Update #25 (get out the popcorn again...)

Greetings all!

I wanted to get out an update before Maker Faire--we are on our way!  We will be unavailable until Monday, so thank you in advance for your patience in email responses.

Watch the video for the latest on shipping, Maker Faire, questions, and a reveal of the latest addition to the Printrbot family!

(side note from margie--i just wanted to send a special shout out to all the encouraging backers!  your kind words are MUCH appreciated.  thanks for hanging in there with us.)

Happy Printing-

Note to self- Printrbot Jr at about 13:00.

Question for Brook/ where is the "Supporters" page on the site?

    2. NGLester on June 13, 2012

      @ happy-accidents:
forget about the upgrade, i emailed them 4 times, not even 1 reply and yesterday my standard version arrived. What a disappointment. Just ask for the standard at least you will get your product instead of empty waiting.
Shouldn't have wasted my money to help them start up.

Yeah, I understand they are working really hard, I don't think it's a scam or anything, and I'm a patient man... but I wish one of the Printrbot team members would do updates like once a week saying "we have shipped X of Y" for each Printrbot model. Not a big long update, just a quick status.

I don't need explanations or dates, just some sign that something is happening. It's the same with UX, people are more willing to wait if there's a progress indicator of some kind.

Sitting here looking at the tweet from 6/4 that said originals were finishing up last week, but I don't have a tracking number. Was my shipment lost? Is there a delay somewhere down the line? Who do I contact?

Is there a reason everything about the shipping status has to be a complete mystery?

    5. happy-accidents on June 12, 2012

I am a backer and upgraded to the plus. What's the status?

    6. Jay Yu on June 10, 2012

Lucky you. I still haven't got mine. Wondering if I should apply for refund.

    7. Right Sun on June 10, 2012

      Hi all,
I am so excited that i got the package!!
Can't wait for one more second to install it.

I am backer number 11 and still haven't reciever my bot. I wonder if upgrading to the plus might have thrown me to the back?

    9. badger on May 30, 2012

@Michael: from the original backer list you are on position 403 (… ), but I'm starting to have serious doubts if it really matters. Anyway from the list you can't tell who selected which reward.

Good Morning. How do we find out what number we are on the shipping list. Eagerly awaiting my Printrbot.

    11. Bertier on May 29, 2012

Hi there, I had the chance to meet with Brook at Maker Faire, and this has cleared any worries. brook is great and reliable. The scale of the project is overwhelming. You should be confident in this guy.

+1 on Justin's suggestion to put a graph up so people can keep track and see that something's happening. Not that Brook is reading this, but perhaps some of the flying monkeys can help.

    13. Justin Davies on May 23, 2012

if possible could you let us know the amount of kits that have been sent out by the next update? thanks

    14. Gavin Maxwell on May 22, 2012

@Brennan, where would you like to start... maybe if you looked at the last half dozen updates from Brook for starters...? Posting that there has been "no information" is completely ridiculous and demonstrably false. If you haven't bothered to keep yourself updated that's your own fault - not anyone else.

Dude, Can you post the assembly videos for LC episodes 4, 5, 6 etc...? I got through 1-3 in like 40 minutes and want to keep going. Thanks! Ed.

My bot came today!!! Printing instructions now. This was a surprise to my kids and when I told them what it was, they started jumping up and down. They think it's very very cool. May have a question later on.

    17. Brent Bublitz on May 22, 2012

Randy and Brennan, he addresses the timeline and communication in the first 10 minutes of the video.

    18. Brennan Babb on May 22, 2012

I am still awaiting my Printrbot. Please can we get an official communication as to why the Kickstarter backers have not had their products delivered? The delivery was supposed to be in February. It is now near the end of May and no information has been given to us as to WHY these deliveries have not occurred?

    19. NGLester on May 21, 2012

It has been 5 months and after 3 emails still no reply.

    20. Randy G on May 21, 2012

Sorry if this has already been addressed, but does anyone know if the rewards being sent in the order that they were purchased? I bought the LC in the final hours and wondering if anyone who has received theirs ordered early in the campaign. Thanks for any feedback PB or backers!

It was a pleasure meeting Brook at Maker Faire and very exciting to pick up my Printrbot in person! Thank you!

    23. Gerardo Machado Gandaria on May 19, 2012

Reidar, you are supposed to let the threaded rods stick out on one side! There are some videos by Brook on YouTube that shows you how.

    24. Simon on May 19, 2012

I would still like to know if I can upgrade my to preassembled and calibrated printrbot +
Similar to the printrbot LC $999 pledge, please let me know if it's possible if your reading this...

My printrbot arrived some weeks ago - all the way to Norway.
But the box contained an assembly plate that simply is too small.
So - I do have all the parts, but cannot finish assembling it.
      I do hope Brook is reading my mails . . . . . . .

@Peter McAndrew... Nah, that happened on the 1st or 2nd take!.. we just didn't see it because he forgot to hit RECORD :D

    27. on May 19, 2012

I simply must have the printrbot Jr!!! Next time you demonstrate it please make the transformer noises :)

    28. David Thomas on May 18, 2012

There are too many people that don't understand how busy Brook is.

Brook, feel free to move me to the back of the queue if it means someone else who is too impatient can get theirs first.

From 50 to 1500, it's 30 x more work that was expected. But it turns out to be greater than that because to handle 30 x more inventory, orders, shipping, customer queries... it blows out.

I'm just happy to be part of the project and look forward to getting my printer!

TL;DR - We aren't going to tell you when your bot will be delivered. We've renumbered the parts because letters are hard. Im going to MakerFaire and selling bots there. If you are going to MakerFaire and you see me I'll give you your bot if I have any left. Look at the shiny new thing.

    30. Gavin Maxwell on May 18, 2012

Love the folding mechanism on the Jr - very cool, and perfect for schools as Brook mentioned. Shame they won't be available this weekend at MF - would've liked to pick one up and save on the international shipping when they are finally available. But it is all good! Thanks for the ongoing hard yards you guys are doing and hope you found some time to enjoy your anniversary!!

"Printrbot Jr: The must-have gift for Christmas 2012." There. I said it first. Better ramp up production of that baby, because if you think the KS campaign was like getting hit by a car, this could be like getting hit by a bus.

Brook & I have something in common: we both married our trophy wives first. I beat him by 13 years, though. :)

    32. Ryan Voots on May 18, 2012

Wow you guys do not look anywhere near people aged enough to be having a 20th anniversary, Congrats. I can't wait to see the files on thingiverse, I haven't had a chance to look at them yet. I love the standardized naming/numbering of parts. Definitely something important to do for the future. The jr certainly looks neat, can't wait to see one working.

    33. Mike Burr on May 18, 2012

Like I told Margie in an e-mail. You guys are doing an outstanding job working at taking bites out of the elephant that is the over expected demand :-) Hang in there, you'll make it through.

and btw, welcome to manufacturing :-D

    34. Brett M on May 18, 2012

We will endevour to get the part numbers on and the wiki updated to the new numbers ASAP.

    35. Marcus on May 18, 2012

Can I trade my LC for one of those small ones? :-)
      Anyway, amazing!

    36. Matija Nalis on May 18, 2012

Junior is nice! As for dalays - I understand problems with shipping delays and do not want promise of shipping date when it clearly cannot be given as it is outside his power to promise (and then possibly disappoint); but what WOULD be nice to see in updates is some hard numbers he has (and can give if he so chooses) - how much of PB, LC, LC+ has been shipped so far.

    37. les weiler on May 18, 2012

@Bret glad to hear they are arriving...having not seen mine yet, it's easy to get discouraged and worrisome. hopefully makerfaire provides some renewed energy for Brook and our crew of bot-elves!

    38. Bret Mogilefsky on May 18, 2012

Mine arrived yesterday, very exciting... Now I just have to hope I have enough time to get around to building it in less time than it took to get shipped to me!

    39. Ryan Voots on May 18, 2012

Video will be here soon. I guess vimeo is still getting it out to their cdn

    40. les weiler on May 18, 2012

indeed. was hoping to hear a rough date of when my bot would arrive, or at least a working vimeo link.

    41. James on May 18, 2012

No fun, was hoping he started shipping.

    42. Matija Nalis on May 18, 2012

      Aaaa, where is it?

link from KS says "Vimeo: Sorry
This video will be available for viewing shortly."
