Setup is Fast
Each player takes a turn placing terrain pieces on top or below the mat. Give each player the discs and cards in their color. Each player deploys 2 units.
All the factions have a unique unit distribution and their own special powers. The goal of the game is to eliminate all your opponent's units by deploying and out maneuvering your opponent. You start with 30 unium (money). That's all you get for the rest of the game to deploy more units.
On your turn, choose between the two options: Action Turn or Command Turn.
When you take an action turn you get to activate a unit, which allows you to use all your special abilities and gives you the option to make attack flicks. To attack, your unit needs to be in range, and then you flick to hit the enemy unit. Each unit has different ways they get more flicks. Some units like Flyers need to start out next to their base to get their maximum flicks. Other close range units need to hit an enemy unit with their first flick to be able to attack. Tank units need to start far enough away from enemy units so they can't be flanked. If you are in range of an enemy unit, use a flick to attack the enemy and kill them!
When you take a command turn, you get 2 command actions. These allow you to buy and deploy more units to the battlefield or you can use them to reposition your units on the battlefield. A Command Turn is useful when you need to get multiple units back to safety or want to advance several units at once. You can even pay your precious unium to take more command actions if you really need that decisive push.
*Note: this is not the final draft of the rules. It is the rules set that reviewers received, but we are definitely going to make some final tweaks. If you have any suggestions, let us know!
Solo Play Rules
We are still working on finalizing these rules, and balancing the factions for normal / hard / insane mode. The basic mechanics for the Solo play:
-You pick the faction that you want to play and the opposing faction you want to beat.
-Setup the board and then randomly choose where you and your opponent start.
-Your turns are exactly the same, you get to use all the same units and abilities and flick your units as per usual.
-The Enemy faction will move 1-3 units towards you each turn (randomly determined by certain criteria). Each unit disc moves a certain number of times towards you at the move range specified on the faction card. After each move, the unit may slid forward or sideways or backwards depending on the terrain. Each unit may also have a special ability. After they move, any units in combat range (each unit has a different range), they roll to see if they hit. (Note, the rolling to see if you hit is just for the solo play mode, and just for the enemy faction)
-The Enemy faction might also deploy new units at their base on their turn. They have a fixed number of units, depending on the difficulty setting and if you destroy all the units, you win!

The mat that you will get with Flick Wars is a large 24" by 30", neoprene rubber mat.
So what's the deal with the mat? Why does a mat come standard with each copy of Flick Wars?

UNLOCKED $8,500 - Yay! We all get games.
UNLOCKED $10,750 - The designer and I have been working on a set of faction cards, one for each faction that will allow you have them be autonomously controlled, and allow for solo play!
UNLOCKED $13,000 - We have another set of really cool cards for each faction. Rather than stick them in an expansion and make you pay more for them, we want them to come in the base game.
UNLOCKED $14,500 - With the more cards, you get more disc options as well, if you really want to field a bunch of one particular type of unit, you can. This really opens up the playing field and tactical choices.
UNLOCKED $16,000 - 2 new big 3" terrain discs and more cards for the Deluxe Set, to expand the terrain variety on top of the table. The art is not final for these, but they'll match the art style of the mats.
UNLOCKED $18,500 - A full set of stickers for the backs of the discs so you can see the destroyed unit on the back of the disc, make the battlefield look a little more thematic after the game.
The Deluxe Flick Wars set includes a bunch of cool stuff to make your games more epic, more interesting, add a ton more variety. It's essentially a "terrain" expansion, that includes more wood pieces and discs.
But, here's the real twist, it also gives you a bunch of cards which give the terrain pieces themselves special rules! Each game you only use one type of terrain. For example, the mountains might be deadly lava flows which kill your units. Or the forests might allow you secret passage through them. Or you might be able to mine the mountains for more unium. So many possibilities!

The epic play mat is just that, a bigger mat. It will come in its own tube, and will not fit in the main game box. The cool thing with the bigger mat, is either you can use it just like the regular mat and have a larger battlefield, or you can fold the sides underneath themselves. Folding the sides under provides a lip around the edge of the mat so the pieces do not go off the edge of the battlefield as easily. This lip also makes a nice edge for bank shots. The epic play mat (battlefield) allows for whole new dimensions of play to be added to the game.
We have fulfillment centers lined up all over the world! This will help keep our costs down, and give you all cheaper shipping! For each backer level, there are shipping costs depending on the total weight and size of the package. This project is shipping out 2 foot long game boxes and rolled up mats that are very long and heavy. We have subsidized shipping as much as we can for you guys. For shipping in the European Union, we are shipping the rewards with VAT already paid!

Game Designer, Shaun Austin
Shaun Austin (born in Australia) is a hobby game designer. Although he web-published some of his own designs, he is best known for his contribution to Oversoul Games range of PnP tabletop and board games. Quote from the man himself: "Game design is a hobby that I find enjoyable and a great way to relieve stress. I am not as dedicated as some but would rather share my somewhat adequate attempts rather than hide the work away. I have 14 games to my credit on BGG with more than 50 incomplete ideas on my hard drive, so expect more from me as the years go by! (But don't expect it quickly as I would much rather play games than design them)."
Game Developer, Andrew Tullsen
Andrew Tullsen has been gaming for most of his life. Originally starting with Axis and Allies, that was just the beginning and now he owns more games than he knows what to do with. He currently runs Print & Play, a prototype printing company. He enjoys all types of games, but enjoys dexterity games the most. We very much enjoy dexterity games and tactical game play. We have crafted Flick Wars to deliver a unique combination of dexterity and head to head battling between asymmetrical factions. All components have been tested and chosen to deliver the quality gaming experience we seek. We believe you will agree.

Risks and challenges
Nearly all the art is finished for the game. We have a few more playtesting rounds to do for the Deluxe Set, with the terrain expansions. So we have a little more work to do while the KS is running and shortly after.
We have given ourselves plenty of leeway time for this project. We plan to fulfill early, we just don't want to over promise.
If this funds, we have a full production team (Admagic) to handle the game printing in China. They print thousands of games each year and are well equipped to handle this project. They print Cards Against Humanity and Exploding Kittens and many other projects under the Breaking Games label.
The fulfillment companies we are using are trusted companies and we have worked with them in the past, but we have not used them for kickstarter project fulfillment.
