Rikast: a numeric strategy game
The idea for this game first came about while I (a programmer with extremely limited art skills) was trying to think of something I could do that only invloved simple/standard shapes and realized that dice were simple yet offered an array of options.
In this game the dice are not just tools included to help you play the game, but the game pieces themselves. How does that work? Simple- instead of picking them up and throwing them, you roll the dice along the board one side and square at a time, avoiding obstacles and battling other players on your way to your goal. Due to the randomization of the initial setup and the options with the obstacles, every game played will be different.
The rules themselves are fairly simple- every piece moves the number of squares equal to the top value at the start of that turn and battles are between the numbers on the sides that are touching (not on the top!) leaving you to concentrate on your winning strategy instead of how the game is played.
This is part of an early playtest of the 2 player version, sped up to 3x original speed, minus the audio (I apologize for the not great camera work).
This is most of a 4 player game played at TCTC last year, sped up to 4x speed (the entire game took around 45 min, and again sorry for the camera work).
We are happy to be able to offer a color blind friendly version of our game available for the same price as the standard version.
In addition to the physical version of Rikast, there is a digital version in development that will be available for Android devices (iOS will be considered if there is enough interest).
Rikast has been play tested at the East Coast Game Conference, game nights at Game Theory in Raleigh, NC, and the Terminal City Tabletop Convention and refined several times. Thank you to all the people who helped with this process!
The dice are custom made .9 inch wooden pieces specifically for this game. The board is printed on a mid-weight fleece and washable if it gets dirty.
We are asking for $6,000 to produce 200 copies of the game at $20 each ($4000 plus fees plus shipping) as an initial run. All backers who pledge $20 or more will receive a full 4-player version of the game. Any additional copies we are able to produce that are not claimed by backers will be available for purchase on amazon.
There will not be a shipping charge for backers who choose the special wooden edition or the game with a plushie option, and this is what the plushie looks like:

Risks and challenges
There is minimal risk with this project as the game has been fully designed and tested, and all the components have already been sourced. Even with everything being sourced, there is always a risk of production or shipping delays.
