About

Our goals

Here at Pressit, we aim to bring you the best quality writing that Redditors have to offer. Whether it's a gripping horror story from r/NoSleep, a compelling western from r/ShortStories, or a succinct poem or essay on Shakespeare written by a Redditor, we're interested in bringing it to you. We publish our magazine primarily electronically, through our own website and through the Kindle, iBooks, and Barnes & Noble stores.

Pressit will not publish print issues for our first publication, except the print issues we will deliver to our Patreon supporters and to our Kickstarter backers

Should we meet our funding goal, we will have the opportunity to pay our authors for their stories, and to host contests with paid awards, such as the Stephen Crane Realism Prize; a planned project of ours.

We're interested in expanding into news stories; we'd like to publish articles on culture, art, and literature to our website and to Apple News in a way that's seldom respected by modern news outlets. Pressit will be focused on high-quality content, curated by our board of well-qualified editors. We aim to deliver the best, most original stories and articles that we can. While we do not demand exclusivity of content from our authors, we strive to locate pieces that offer something our readers won't see on a regular basis.

Pressit will be a charity; if we meet our funding goal, we'll incorporate as a 501(c)(3) and donate 60% of our magazine sales on every issue after the first one to a charity chosen by our readership. This charity will change with each quarterly publication.

Who are we?

Pressit currently has eight staff. Four of our staff are editors. Well-qualified literature PhDs, professional copyeditors, and talented authors make up our editing board.  Three of our staff are tasked with doing book reviews, writing articles (unlike the short stories, essays, and poems we publish, which come from outside submissions), and interviewing authors. One of our staff focuses solely on design and our social media presence.

What will we do with our funds?

Below is a breakdown of our two revenue streams and their uses, both in the long-term and in the short-term. Listed first is a breakdown of our short-term revenue streams. Notice: Magazine sales are not included, because this chart only includes a break down of our revenue up to the publishing of our second issue.

Below is an infographic detailing our long-term revenue plans. Note: Kickstarter funds are left off the infographic, because by this point, we assume those will have been spent for the above purposes.
