Hello to the greatest podcast listeners in the world!
Last time, we made t-shirts. This new project is something special. We want to be the first podcast in the world to release a show on 7 inch vinyl. We know a couple of others have done 12 inch, full length records, but our 7 inch will be the first of its kind, and will feature a Kickstarter exclusive mini-episode of Radio BrendoMan! (each side holds a maximum of 6 minutes of audio, so we mean really mini.)
So, please help us make some history and back our project!
And now, a little bit about our show...
Radio BrendoMan is a weekly live podcast featuring Brendan Creecy and Phil Vecchio. We talk (at great length) about all things pop culture, nostalgic, and geeky. We think we're kinda funny, but we also hope to inspire others to express themselves creatively, enjoy life, and read more. You can find our web page at www.radiobrendo.com.
The show began in 2004, when a young Brendo started recording himself and putting it out on the internet in what would become a very early podcast. The show has changed a lot over the years, and the current incarnation with Phil as co-host has been going for about three years.
To all our regular listeners out there, thank you for making our show something special, a community of awesome people! We record live, using Google hangouts, so that our listeners can participate in the creation of the show as it happens. We also stream the video of the show on Youtube, so we can be viewed as a "web series" as well. Anyway, as we said before, we have the world's greatest listeners. They've been contributing questions, ideas, fan art, and promoting our show to the world. So, we hope, once again, that this project allows us, in a small way, to give a little back to them.
About this project:
Our main goal is to make the 7 inch records, but the rewards will feature other cool stuff, such as stickers, t-shirts, a new BMAS EP, original "art," etc., so that our fans can display to the world that they are a part of our community.
We decided to do another Kickstarter because we had such an overwhelming and positive response to the last one. Again, we want to get these items into our listeners' hands without breaking the bank (ours, or the fans). This allows us to gauge interest ahead of time, so that we can make exactly the amount of merch that we need. However, we based the goal for the project on an estimate of 100 7 inch records and 50 CDs. It's not a huge number. In fact, it's the minimum order size we can make on these things at a reasonable price. Again, we're not trying to get rich. The best case scenario here is that we break even on the whole thing (making vinyl is expensive!) and you guys get some cool stuff. We greatly appreciate your interest in what we're doing, and hopefully we've been able to keep the prices for the rewards reasonable for you.
Additional info on the rewards:
First of all, you'll see that there are some repeats of some of the rewards from our last Kickstarter project. This is because we wanted to give people that missed out on the last one a chance to get some of the stuff they wanted. Also, we have some leftovers that we'd rather be in your hands than our garage. But there's plenty of new stuff too.
You'll notice that several rewards include items that are related to other creative endeavors of Brendo and Phil. We figure it all kind of fits, since we talk about it all on the show, and part of our goal is to encourage others to pursue their own creative passions. So, you'll see things like a new EP from our band (BMAS) and a book collection of our webcomic series (Brax). That's all Brendo and Phil too, just so you know.
A few more specifics:
The price for the records is for a bare minimum package, black vinyl, with a plain white outer sleeve. If we get into some stretch goals, we may upgrade to printed sleeves, colored vinyl, etc.
The BMAS EP will include some older songs and some new, exclusive tracks. We will be releasing this officially through pop.vox.music, and it will be a real retail release, not a CDr.
The t-shirts will be one design, the main image from this project, and it will be printed white on a black shirt. You'll be able to select sizes after the project is funded. We'll be printing a higher quality shirt this time, as several of you mentioned that your old ones were already worn out. (Sorry about that). This is a good chance for you to get a better one.
We'd love to do a live recording. Like, so bad it hurts. If you're interested in this level of reward, but not sure how it could work, please send us a message and we might be able to negotiate something.
Hopefully everything else is self explanatory. If you have any questions about any of the rewards, please don't hesitate to ask.
Finally, it is fairly common practice to do this on Kickstarter, but we wanted to point out that ALL reward tiers include EVERYTHING from the lower level rewards. We think there's some cool stuff in there, and hopefully you will too. We'll be posting updates as the project is underway. Of course, if we over-fund, we'll be adding additional stretch goals and such, so please stay tuned...
NEW STRETCH GOALS!
We've hit our funding goal, and then some!
So, we're now adding some stretch goals.
In case you're not familiar with the idea, we've added additional funding goals, and at each level we reach, we'll add bonus rewards to our backers! This is just our little way to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been so supportive of us.
Check out the list of goals and new rewards below...

$3000- Backers at $100+ will receive a DVD-R containing the entire recorded archives of Radio Brendoman.

$5000- Phil and Brendo will do a 24 hour live couchcast, and donate any money raised during couchcast to charity, plus all backers at $100+ will get a second shirt!
OK everyone, let's hit some stretch goals!
Risks and challenges
We've learned a lot since our last project was successfully funded. Of course, there are still challenges. As before, it's still difficult to ascertain exactly how many listeners we actually have. We had to set our goal higher than our last initial goal in order to make some more expensive items. However, we feel we've set the goal at a reasonable level since we were able to raise more than what we're asking last time around. We're starting a little higher, but we don't need quite as much as we got before to make our goal.
Next, there is the issue of fulfillment. We've got some rewards that will require shipping, design, and ordering shirts, stickers, CD's, vinyl, and even travel. Last time, we were able to fulfill most our rewards, including the main one, ahead of schedule. But It's a lot of work, and we learned that some rewards are much more time consuming than others. We've tried to reevaluate the value and time required to fulfill these various rewards, and hopefully we've set a more reasonable and achievable fulfillment schedule.
We know now from past Kickstarter experience that there are significant challenges to meet when fulfilling these rewards, but we're confident that we can fulfill all of the rewards we've laid out, and most of all we are so thankful to you, our supporters, for helping us to achieve our goal...
