Dungeons and Dragons has been explosive recently, which is an amazing thing! DnD gives an opportunity to explore your imagination, while giving player the opportunity to break out of their shells, experience problem solving, and team building exercises all in one, fun RPG!
Tension is rising in the Abyss and across the Nine Hells. It’s been a while since there has been any type of revolt or unsettling against the ruling class. You are fortunate enough to find yourself in the Normal layer of the abyss, very similar to the material plane, but this one has varieties of landscapes and hellish creatures. Wherever it is you find yourself, you can notice there is tension building between those that have power, and those that are ruled by power. Something is soon to happen, and hopefully, you’ll find yourself on the winning side of things.
This module is aimed to be a new campaign option for players, but is also built to be friendly to new Dungeon Masters and players. This is written for 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons, and everything that comes with the final product is flexible and easy to work with. As well as a fluid storyline that can be followed. There are tip bubbles for new players in order to help them along the way of learning how to be great players and great Dungeon Masters!
Hi everyone! My name is Ruben Soto, and I'm the solo writer for this project and have been modeling this game for a little over a year now, and I've begun playtesting the campaign with 5 players. The story is captivating, dangerous, and thrilling. The writing is set for a campaign starting at level 1 and taking the players to level 5. There will be an advanced version, and beginner's version in the packet to make it inclusive for new players, but not typical for more advanced players.
I've been saying a lot of words; "playtesting," "campaign," "levels," "players," it's a lot to keep up with. Basically, for those of you that don't know, Dungeons and Dragons is a tabletop, role playing game, where players create a character, and take them on an adventure designed by a Dungeon Master, or Game Master, the narrator of the story. These stories can be made up in any sort or way, or sometimes are guided by a manual. The DM isn't forced to follow the guide, that is what is liberating about this game. It allows liberty, as long as the rules are followed. The rules are in the Player's Handbook, which would be included in the packet, a much simpler version for new players. A guide explaining the rules and how to create a character, along with pre-made characters I'm designing from the playtest I'm running.
By "playtest," I mean I've taken what I've written, and a group of players are currently playing my campaign and telling me how it is, criticizing it and I'm constantly improving until it is ready to be published. I'm hoping for a follow up, that takes the characters above level 5, but I'd like to see how well this turns out first. Those that have been playing, have thoroughly been enjoying it, and are constantly doing artwork and other items for me and my campaign. Thank you for sticking this long and reading through this!
This kickstarter is to support the creation of this vision. All funds will be used for the creation and process of this. We, as the creative team, have a long way to go, this is just the start but I would love the support!
Wills: The earnings of this project are for the advancement of this campaign such as paying the creative team for their commissions for their workload. A finished drawing for the cover page. All rewards will be delivered. Updates on how the playtest is going and artwork is posted. I will be looking for partnerships or sponsorship's from other sources like DnDBeyond, Geek and Sundry, or people involved in such communities.
Won'ts: This project is NOT done once the goal is reached. This is just the beginning. Assembling the book in itself will take more time, along with developing the guide. I want the content to be the very best, and I will playtest it one more time before releasing it. The goal is to simplify the intro level stages of the project and to give the creators and backers a perspective of what this will look like.
Expectations: For the end of this goal, I plan to have the campaign written by June, 2019. There will be plenty of artwork done, and being worked on by the end of this goal. Expect updates from me, and if I'm not living up to it, call me out. I want this project to have full transparency along with quality work. Thank you!
Risks and challenges
Challenges would definitely include writers block, along with conflicting schedules. The playtest only let's me test it as long as all of the schedules line up for the game, so constant updates on how the campaign going can be around once to twice a month. There is also the monetary aspect. Working and going to school leaves my creativity limited to certain times. But without money, I can't pay the artists that are passionate about working on this campaign with me. These are the main challenges, and they can all be overcome. That is why this kickstarter would be a HUGE help!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
