update time!

So if you can imagine things have been really crazy here! I've got some big news I can share once all the paper work is signed off etc etc...

I will be able to give the final word on fulfilling rewards from within the EU once I have a final box count and the final box weight and dimensions are set in stone. Until then I can't make any promises, just expect everything to be shipped from the states until you hear otherwise.

We are down to just 300 people that need to confirm their pledges! This is excellent news and is far less stragglers then I initially expected. Anna has been working diligently thru everyones emails and making sure she takes care of each backers issues as it comes up. Its a pretty exhausting workload and it would have been simply impossible to manage that + everything else all at once.

For the card stock, we will be going either purple or black core for the extra snap they provide. Its more costly, but its totally worth it! The custom dice included in the game will be made from urea, which has a much nicer feeling then acrylic dice. It was interesting learning about it, as its a much older way to manufacture dice but it results in a slight glass feeling die with way more heft.

I've been hustling all the artists like crazy! Trying to include as much art as humanly possible before the print deadline.

Before we go into art dump mode, on behalf of all the artists, Anna, and Joe whom has taken over orders and customer service, I want to thank you all so much for this opportunity. Everyone is throughly enjoying the work!

A little attack combo :

back to work now!

Adam....cannot express how awesome these regular updates are and what a great job it is doing of keeping a community of pretty damn cool people (I say having talked to maybe a handful of them, but I trust it's an effective sample size) stoked about this game when it finally heads out to homes. I foresee dark things in all our futures...but in a good way.

Let me piggyback on the cards. Standard size game cards please. Please make the square ones fit standard sleeves so we can at least cut the sleeves down to size. PLEASE!

    3. Isrious on April 11, 2013

Loving to hear the high quality that goes into the cards, but I have one question that I'm sure is on a lot of veteran gamers' minds: are the cards going to be in a size that we'll be able to get card sleeves for? It makes shuffling about a million times quicker and easier, and protects the cards from inevitable damage from even minor use. I can understand the bigger cards like the settlement upgrades, but the smaller ones - the AI cards in particular. I know there's a few companies that make sleeves in a wide range of sizes, but anyway - keep up the amazing things you do, I'm sure the final product will be worth the wait and then some ^^

Little known to the sprites Adam has been uploading. I guess it's a surprise for us of what he's going to use it for. Any ETA of the announcement for that?

    5. Charles Engström on April 11, 2013

Ok just making sure the art will be able at the same time as the game right.
Or will It come out prior to the game?
Can’t wait for more on the game keep up the good work everyone.

Awesome awesome awesome awesome looking stuff! I think my favorite (or top 3) image is the one where they're actually happy and smiling. Just seeing that there is some hapiness in the world makes it that much better for me :D

    7. Jorge Barreiros on April 10, 2013

Great to see this updates and awesome news about the effort for providing euro shipping. If that actually comes to fruition, it would be great!
Keep up the good work Adam!

I have fun trying to find some sexual innuendo in any of the KD images. You got it in the watcher cocoon image. Funny.

Thank you very much for the update.
If the european pledges can be sent from europe, that will be excellent.
If not, it doesn't matter, because we pledged with that idea in mind but, if it happens I will save a bit of money. 8-)
This is coming greater than expected.
Looking forward to see those cards and dice.

Awesome images, they popped up today with no problems.

    12. John H. on April 10, 2013

Well, crap. It'd have been nice if this had come out before I finalized my pledge, because I would have added the Sunstalker Expansion.

Oh, well, I guess I'll have to wait until retail.

    13. Mad Clown Miniatures on April 10, 2013

All this great artwork is making me really want to create a custom 3D Kingdom Death board.

    14. Pride365 on April 10, 2013

I love this update! I love the intimate moment but I think my favorite is prolly the guy hanging out by himself

    15. greywulf on April 10, 2013

@Adam - Thanks for the hi-res art. I've loved being able to look all over it and discover hidden details!

Anyone else notice the that parts of the Watcher pic have been coloured over? And one of the survivors has a bunch of them on his shoulder. Worms? Spiders? Interesting!

      Best Gorm image so far!

    20. Drakist on April 10, 2013

Awesome update thank you! Lots of great stuff! Really love the art and the moment of intimacy is a nice change of pace from the nightmarish stuff. Good to see another side of things even if only in the artwork.

Excited by the dice and card decision as well. Don't spoil us too much though =).

    21. CashWiley on April 10, 2013

So much awesome art in one update. I'm so looking forward to this stuff! I'm going to have a brainsplosion with the amount of art this game contains!

    24. Fletcher on April 10, 2013

Looks awesome! Can we get an update on how the rules are coming along, at some point?

    25. Scientific Adventurer on April 10, 2013

Wonderful art, I get more excited with every update!

    26. Mystic Weasel on April 10, 2013

Great update. The card and dice news especially sounds promising. Art and minis lovely as expected. My highlight is probably the discovery of the watcher picture, Its both awesome and confuses the hell outta me, you think you are starting to understand KD and then....nope, not at all! On the opposite end of the spectrum the intamacy one is quite sweet, very un KD.
The low point of this update?? Messenger of the spiral path sculpt...whats wrong with it you say? I didn't order one, that is all!. I guess my downwards spiral to a forsaker begins here.

    27. Marc Aranha on April 10, 2013

Fun update. That's a pretty fine axe!

      all of those wonderful "colours!"

Cannibalise in British English, or just English as we call it :)

    36. Kingdom Death 4-time creator on April 10, 2013

its not a weird language, it was simply drawn by a non-native speaker! we've got like 10 trucks of editors that are ready to proof the finals before print.

however none of those trucks are parked anywhere near me when i wanna share art that's hot off the press.

    37. Edwardo on April 10, 2013

      Real word should be "cannibalize"

I think it's KD own language for "canablize". Just like the weird language from Game of Thrones

    38. Arthur Changry
      on April 10, 2013

Ah... the dice... thought they were just gonna be plain plastic dice but I should have known better from the poots. Now I want another set. Any chance we can still add on to the order if it's already locked?

    39. Fontaine Christophe on April 10, 2013

Great update even though the pictures take an eternity to load. Some interesting stuff in there, some "old" and some new.
About the misspelling : I also hope it's on purpose otherwise it would greatly impact the quality of the game. No word on that from KD, that's strange...
      Thanks for sharing

    40. Simon Bahr on April 10, 2013

@Carl, I think the 'fire' on the woman's hands is actually Gorm acid...

    41. Psychor on April 10, 2013

@Adam, that's too bad as I really enjoy the higher resolution images.

KD i love you guys but its "cannabilize"

    43. Kingdom Death 4-time creator on April 10, 2013

Its not about anyone here stealing images. Its simply that these are high-res and unwatermarked. So its not ideal for them to be anywhere outside of here. In the future I will post images that are ok to share so there are zero concerns.

It's not really a big deal. I really should have been doing so from the get go.

    44. Kyle Cruickshank on April 10, 2013

@KD.. so you ask not to post up to facebook etc, but is it OK to blog about this update? Would like to promote it as much as possible also ( like others might want also ) to generate more hype ( if that is possible ) for this game.. thanks for the clarification on this..

      @Zach Armstrong

Thanks for putting those up, I missed them, but I appreciate the effort.

My bad, certainly wasn't out to steal anything. Just been having trouble seeing the pictures.

    47. Carl on April 10, 2013

Yeah, okay, I suppose I could buy that reasoning. ^^' *Snickers*

@KD: I don't think anyone is out there to "steal" those images. I think people are eager and looking forward to all the fantastic stuff coming from you guys. ;) As always, thanks for keeping us in the loop! =D

Oh, my ears are ringing... did someone say a Kingdom Death coffee table book? If no one did, someone really ought to. =) (+2 Brownie Points in advance to that person.) *Winks* Cheers all!

@KD the only reason the issues were uploaded elsewhere is because your server is clearly overwhelmed and unable to cope with the load.

At this point in time it would appear that to prevent future issues you need to consult with your web developer to move static content to CDN, as mentioned a few posts down, and hopefully before your next update.
