Welcome Spidicules! Next goal set at 725k!

BOOOMM!!!! The 700k barrier has been shattered and we still have 19 days to go! Is this starting to get crazy or is it just me?!

Please welcome Spidicules! Chop of its legs, steal its egg sacks, start your own spider silk farm and chase your pets around the house! ( your real life pets, no sorry there are no pets in KDM as humans are you know… bottom of the food chain etc )

This Major Game Expansion includes everything you'll need to add Spidicules to your campaign and includes the new Spider Silk Armor Miniature Kit. Enough parts to make 2 unique male and 2 unique female models! The Expansion will retail for $65 and you can add it to your rewards by increasing your pledge by +$40. After the kickstarter campaign ends we will send everyone a link to an online pledge manager where you will confirm your rewards and provide us with your shipping info.

I should also mention that his limbs are being re-worked to be much thicker. The photos shown below are from before we started to fix everything up so please rest assured it will not be a problem. One benefit of re-working things is that we are looking into making the limbs sorta socket so they can be removed for storage and gameplay purposes!

Some Spidicules Features :

- Can vibrate at a high frequency making him near invisible to the human eye!
- Sometimes will hide in human settlements
- Venom will instantly kill a survivor when it enters their bloodstream!
- Can use a human corpse to trick survivors
- Yes you can chop off all 8 limbs
- Can have babies, lots of them!

A lot of people have been asking about the 2nd gameplay video and I can assure you I've been working very hard on it. I don't have a firm finish date yet, but when I do I will surely update everyone!

The Kickstarter homepage is slowly getting a facelift, still plenty to do tho! Eventually each expansion / character will have a view more button that will link to the KDM site which will contain larger gallery style images. Including a very important "whats in the box" section!

Ok! that's enough talking, lets look at some pretty images!

      @Adam (not the project creator)

      I understand about the dung beetle knight, but I think he fills an interesting role in the environment. He's a scum sucker, like every other organism that lives in the Kingdom Death world, but perhaps not as scary. What impresses me most is he adds complexity to the world and makes it (to me) seem more like a living breathing biosphere, that includes not just predators and victims, but also scavengers and germs, and raises the issues of excrement and nutrition. Honestly, he reminds me of a Power Ranger villain (that's probably an insult) but I'm really excited about how to approach painting the guy. I love the tufts of fur for added bettle-like visual cues as well.

      I think survivors in Kingdom Death go through a cycle. We have seen all three phases of this cycle in the KS: gritty human survivor -- > evolves into horrific monster ---> evolves into sexy pinup ;).

      I'm kinda convinced most of the monsters started out as survivors.

    4. Adam on December 20, 2012

      I think MRiley has hit on why the Dung Knight doesn't do it for me, it doesn't fell like it fits in with the rest of the collection, but the dung ball does. Still that Spidicules is totally making up for it! that's the kind of monster that will make players take a step back!

    5. Lexicon Etiquette on December 20, 2012

      @MRiley, what makes them so damn scary was that they fell face first into the uncanny valley.

    6. MRiley on December 19, 2012

      Adam, do you know what makes all of your monsters so damn scary? You can see humanity in them. This thing has a human face and arms warped into a twisted daddy longlegs of despair. It's one of those things you can't look away from - it's nearly unimaginable, the stuff you do. It sends chills and delight down the spine - well done, good sir.

      Loving the look on the silk armor.

    8. Krissa on December 19, 2012

      Is the kneeling guy about the same size as the human minis? If so that spider is MASSIVE.

    9. Kingdom Death 4-time creator on December 19, 2012

      No worries, it will still look the same, just won't be frail.

      @ADAM, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep the legs as thin as possible! Its half the awesomeness of this figure! OR is it just so big that thick enough plastic chunks still appear to be thin overall?

    11. Ape2020 on December 19, 2012

      @Scott
      I'm not so sure of that, Aya was the normal survivor as well as Paul but have yet to see the pin-up survivor. Plus correct me if I'm wrong but so far all the pin-ups have been new models even the WS Xmas Nico.

    12. Scott Steussy on December 19, 2012

      The next goal will prolly be the pinup savior...

    13. Jonathan Robinson on December 19, 2012

      @jose Google image search Kingdom Death Savior. 1st image is of the Savior, which matches 100% to the silhouette given, not the pin-up savior.

    14. Eliazar de la Tierra on December 19, 2012

      It's 100% the non-pin-up saviour, as she's holding her staff with both hands, while the pin-up is holding it in one hand, check the pics on the KD website if you don't wanna believe it.

      Great update, I really was looking forward to the Saviour, and the silk armour looks really promising, too.

    15. Ape2020 on December 19, 2012

      @jose
      Uh no its not the pin-up savior it the normal savior from the gift of death box. The same box that the man hunter is from. That might mean the resin version offered. Plus from what the update reads its a survivor level upgrade like Aya and Paul.

    16. jose on December 19, 2012

      @ape2020 rules or not the $725 silhouette is of the pin-up saviour. Which I for one will need to break my firm stance of no more then $300 for.

      The Spidicules is absolutely beautiful. I like it more each time I look at it. Please keep the limbs as thin as possible. I know production and play factors require them to be a little thicker than the artistic ideal.

    19. Ape2020 on December 19, 2012

      Oh and the $725K goal isn't a Pin-up its the regular Savior. Think of it like Aya, Paul, and the Explorers of Death. She will likely have some effect on the game and/or an one-shot challenge scenario.

      @Brian
      The update and Adam have said the model is being reworked so it will stand on its own with thicker legs.

      Vibrational invisibility, hunh?

      So I guess this proves that light is a quanta and NOT also a waveform - and that this guy can positionally shift himself between incoming light quanta such that he reflects nothing in the visible spectrum. Must be a helluv'a metabolism! Meat eater??

      Way to go H. G. Wells and your super-spinning-fast-time-travel-mechanism.

    22. Brian Moran on December 19, 2012

      This is probably a silly question, but is Spidicules self supporting? or will he have some large clear stand to hold him up?

      I'm also seconding/thirding/whatevering that I like the change in pace from cleavage window female survivors. Not that I dont enjoy those as well, but variety is nice. Some in "practical" heavy armor in a later expansion would be welcome as well.

      @Christina: The way previous kickstarters with minis have worked is that you pledge your desired level. For any add-ons that you want, you add the posted amount to your pledge amount, but do not change your pledge level. E.g. say you wanted the survivor level ($155) but you wanted to add only the spider on this update ($40), then you would pledge/select the survivor level but manually type in $195 (155+40). After the kickstarter completes, there will be an online pledge manager, where you go in and select what add-ons you wanted for any extra cash you put in on top of your base pledge level.

      I'm not quite on how to get all these great characters.
      it is something you buy afterwards or what.?
      i just love Kingdom dead, but i do not quit understand this system, but in having pledge 400 og kan enyone tell me what I get for them and how to get your hands on all the other characters.

      I think that the 'socketed limbs' idea is fantastic, especially since we can cut them off!

      Well, every day i think of something to #wishlist, youve already beaten me to it! ;)

    39. Sven on December 19, 2012

      It's really a shame that those legs need to be reworked to be thicker. I love the almost skeletal look - it's quite creepy.
      So I would have prefered a scenic base including a stand for the main corpus. But as nothing you've release 'til now turned out bad I'll just have confidence.

      Origially I assumed, that maybe Spidicules was the answer to "What lurks behind the Illuminated Lady?"... but well it seems we have to wait for that answer a bit longer ^^

      Now let's move on to the "King" from the first Video... might he await us at 800k?

    40. Michael Smith on December 19, 2012

      Spidicules looks nice and creepy, do we get the kneeling man in the pictures with the expansion or is he just for show?
      So happy about the savior, I hope we get to see some of her other sculpts.

    41. Kingdom Death 4-time creator on December 19, 2012

      @Ricardo Valadares,

      Broken lanterns can be harvested for scrap metal, once you've built a foundry and have a decent way of purifying it. Metal is super limited and usually unless its found or given to the settlement you just won't have it.

      It does look like the next goal is the non-pinup savior. Interesting. I'm curious how that will work. I had assumed she would be in the heroic gam and not this one. I like the model though so she is a welcome addition.

    43. Mike Malley on December 19, 2012

      I thought i read that the chest of the dragon armor was being reworked. No?

    44. AGN1964 on December 19, 2012

      Wow. Looks much better than in the quick video flyby. The lure is cool; I thought it was holding a dead body; this looks more like it's evolved something to look a bit like a dead body as it's own body part. The face is better than I thought too.

      What's the silhouette? Looks like The Saviour, not the Saviour pinup. I thought the Saviour was a character, not a monster ... I'll wait to $25K to find out what's going on! Cool.

      I still have my fingers crossed for a new Black Widow Pinup down the line!

      I would love to see a scythe made from the Spidicules limbs and poison based weaponry.
      Soon we will need a transport bag as awesome as the minis you have lined up for us.

    46. Ricardo Valadares on December 19, 2012

      Adam, quick Question:
      Since Aya the survivor and some others feature metal armour plates, what monster will unlock forges, Sword crafting, fencing, metal working and such? Is it a metal skinned monster, a forge fiend thingy or what?

    47. Ricardo Valadares on December 19, 2012

      Wow, ADAM!
      I have not been amazed so often and so much as in the last few days as I pour over each of the new achievments, and I am anxiously expecting to see the next big thing.

      @frankthedm, Some armor is more about spiritualism and a sense of "becoming" the beast. The dragon king armor for example, has an exposed chest on both the male & female because they are imitating the creature itself, which has an exposed chest.
