@Michael Berné here is the exact quote from Dec 7, 2016

"you know. Internally we had a lot of talk about this. I even have a quote for the core game with no mini's and just tokens sitting in my inbox. I decided I would let GenCon 2016 help me with the choice. We brought our last 50 off units to the show, they had no models in them as they were factory defects. We also brought enough sets of models (packed separately) to sell a la cart. Day 1, hour 1, we had a line that wrapped around many other booths and we got in trouble with the gencon police! We sold all of our games and here was the part that spoke to me... we only sold 5 games without miniatures. EVERYONE wanted them. The number of times I said: "Are you sure? Just the base game with no models is $100, with everything its $400" The models to me are an essential part of the experience and it seems the overwhelming majority feels the same way. Therefore I can say: We have ZERO plans to release our game or its expansions without miniatures."

@Michael Berné The mini-less copies were an experiment they tried. After some people begged that a cheaper mini-less version of the game be made, they brought a bunch of copies that had no minis, because they used them for replacements, and sold it for $100. They barely sold any. People still preferred the normal version. This convinced Adam there is not enough demand for a mini-less version to make creating one worthwhile.

@Emanuelle Avila Rodriguez For the first KS, they were able to set up distribution centers in Germany, Australia and Canada. So from what I understand there was no vat for the first ks. However, Adam has said he is not promising that this time. He will do his best to do it again, but will not guarantee it. So plan to pay vats just in case, but hopefully you will not have to.

@Trunkmonkey As far as monsters go, the phoenix and kingsmen are the next group, than the hand and watcher.

Survivors are more complicated. Rawhide, leather and lion are going to be what is available early, but what the survivors will end up using is up to them and what innovations get developed.

@xero Yes, I realize that. I just thought the custom aspect was the suited guy. XD

Also both the saviors(40 & 80?) were on ebay for about 200 dollars each. They didnt last long @.@ intense

    8. Trunkmonkey on May 4

I would like to paint all the miniatures after the game arrives. Is there a recommended order I should paint them? The 4 starting survivors and the lion is pretty obvious but after that?

For the guys who own the game. I saw that cards are american size not european.

I can easily find sleeves with 63.5x89 measurement, but american in EU shops is not that good, and more expensive. Would you recomment using the loose 63.5x89 sleeves or just go with the tight fit of 57x89 sleeves?

I went to GenCon last year just to do it. I say do it once and then determine if it is for you. I will just order my games online and Kickstarter and save my money.

@here i have a serious question, for any rest of the world how many taxes did you pay for the first ks?? And are we expecting to pay for the second?? I am quite terrified when i hear that someone ordered a mini from the store and they are paying 80+ in taxes... just for minis not the complete game

    17. Scott on May 3

@Taryn, Once the products are ready to ship, the Pledge Manager will reopen. This will allow everyone the opportunity to pay their shipping fees and to update any address changes that may have occurred.

    18. Taryn Spiconardi on May 3

Question- my shipping address has changed, how do I adjust it for the game shipment?

    19. Scott on May 3

@Michael, I wouldn't. Those were only manufacturing proofs. I seriously doubt that Poots would have any more made for GenCon. He has been adamantly against a mini-less version of KD:M every time it has been brought up.

    20. Michael Berné on May 3

Didn't one of the KDM showings at a Gencon also include no-minis copies of KDM? Go there hoping to find one, maybe?

Which KS were you referring to about the old school MMOs?

    23. IASeldon, My Fox ate your House on May 3

@Crexas Reports from Gencon2016 was that they sold out their stock on hand for the first day (possibly on the second day as well), but that they did have more stock day-by-day. So, early birds ate all the worms that were showing, and later birds came back and ate the worms that appeared later.

...They did have a friggin huge line that first day, though. So bad that the fire marshals came over to have a chat with Poots about the hazard. So, get there early.

    25. Crexas on May 3

People who have been to gencon, does kdm items (and other gencon exclusives/early releases) sell out the first day or is there a good chance to still get things on the second day?

It's great that you guys don't mind. I do. Updates make my poop time fly by.

There's only so many poop hours you can spend rereading the same updates.

While waiting for dark souls and kingdom death to come, I bought a rawhide armor set off ebay, and just magnetized the first few parts, it took about 2 hours, but i have my first legs, torso and head magnetized. and its just magical.

Poots has always been a perfectionist. So i dont really mind him taking his time with updates. I just hope things work out like he wants and he wont have to scrap a expansion like the lantern festival.

I'm surprisingly ok with no updates, and will be even more if we get our game before christmas.

Looks like I'll get to go to GenCon this year. My partner's game company (eviloverlordgames.com) is partnering with the GenCon folks for some promotional things and I'll get to tag along and maybe run some demos of my game (fallofthelastcity.com). KDM will be there right?

Gencon is a blast. A friend and I have gone for the past 4 years. We also only live about an hour from Indianapolis so we just drive back and forth each day. Gas parking and food equals to about the cost of s hotel so it all works out.

    48. I believe in a thing called Death. on May 3

I live in Indiana, so it seems a shame not to go. It was actually more affordable to go than I thought for the actual admission price, it's $90 for all 4 days. Less than $25 a day seems more than fair (of course there's traveling expenses and stay expenses).

@B -Been to GENCON for last 21 years in a row. Price totally depends on luxury. I used to stay in a cheap hotel by airport for about $100/night split with some friends and used public parking (about $36/night) and ate bologna cheese sandwiches and donuts. Was not very expensive. Now however I save all year and get a hotel downtown and eat out. So you can do it on a tight budget if your willing to sacrifice. Either way I think it is totally worth it IMO.
