Have a question?
In all seriousness tho, thanks for your patience! We will have an update when I am ready to share. I needed to be absolutely ontop of the reprint timeline. I do have a growing collection of cool stuff to share!
@kingdom death - haha! Awesome
I use a different account for my personal stuff.
Peak Oil looked cool I snatched that.
Draw like a Boss Reprint
White Box I'm pretty interested in for obvious reasons.
Solstice is a game that draws flavor from Dune... and I love me some Dune.
@HoodheroJ #BareTheChest *DeathChicken "hey, it's making backers nervous and $#!7."!!!
@DKDent77 - been considering the same thing. There is a lion ("Leo") over on the Arena Rex webstore that looks pretty good, but no idea on how it could compare in size (as well as having chains that probably need to be modded off).
I'm other news I just bought rallyman lol..
There's nothing quite as satisfying as acquiring a Resin of the King. I guess that's my news, but not KS news. :p
We really need to get an update. It's legit been 11 weeks since a content update, something substantial has to have happened in 11 weeks. Even drop by just to say hey, it's making backers nervous and $#!7. Still got made love though<3
@Clark, I was curious, but don't see any backed on your KDM account. What are they?
@clank there is this one game officially the KS over and there are no updates to be scene but it looks amazing you should check it out.
That said, want interesting right now on KS? I backed a few projects I'm pretty excited about recently.
@ Berger : i made a similar move : canned deadzone for kdm. i had high hopes that dz would become my necromunda / infinity game for years but mantic just did as always : issue an half baked game and move along.
... seeing the history of kdm 1, this is not going to repeat here.
@B Please be respectful and considerate.
We appreciate the community discussion, just not the name calling.
Gah, the wait for the core game will feel like years.
I am seriously tempted to buy stuff of scalpers to get something to paint (it's not like I have approximately a few hundred unpainted minitures from other games silently waiting for their paintjob already).
I am considering buying multiple Lions to get some variety into the showdowns. I there a good Lion model available of the same size, or bigger that could be used/customized as a higher Level White Lion?
Decided not to back Gloomhaven for right now. Maybe later possibly.
Too bad I like endless and pointless comparisons that annoy losers. Cry more.
+1 to the Shiny Syndrome! I have spent a fortune on games over the last three years - and only two have really taken hold at our club - Dreadball (and it's variations) and Dropfleet Commander. The others I've had to accept are not going to make it at our club. To combat the shiny I've had to implement a one-in, one-out policy. To get KD:M, I've basically canned Deadzone. But I'm also looking at getting rid of Malifaux - it's a great game, but a) I'm rubbish at it (compared to the tournament regulars I game against) and b) it only get's played a couple of times a year at best.
KD:M had several people on the fence, but none wanted to take the plunge and spend the money. Given the ease of solo play, I was willing to take the gamble. My only regret is that I probably won't have time in my life to play every expansion!
Hi,i just finished Alison Reverse Twilight knight !
Additionnal pictures here :
Yep completely agree with Patrick. Being a new tabletop gamer I search a lot for advice here cause I feel we have some very knowledgeable people in the community. I backed out of GH and I honestly don't regret it. Having pledged for KD I don't think I will have the time for another big game. I'm currently tentative on ODD...and maybe for Zombicide Hordes.
@DigitalDogParty thank you for your answer. Let's check it out :D
I agree with Steve. It's very tempting to fall into the trap of the shiny new game, at least for me anyway. Especially if there is an interesting concept or new design or mechanic not seen before and it's a 'back now or miss out'. But novelties do wear off. So I have to limit myself.
I don't really see the discussion as pointless.
People posting asking for updates is more so. However, I would love one.
If anything, it's great to have an active community that have lively discussions.
And seeing as though there's nothing new KD wise lately I don't see it as a problem.
OK, GH KS is over, maybe this endless and pointless comparison could also stop ?
This is 2 different games, everybody got it now, thx a lot.
What about tic tac toe vs KDM ? They both share square divisions of the board ...
for me what makes or break the game are :
- ai design
- immersive settings
- game components quality
- non linear campaign
- coop / solo gaming design
the ai / solo design is probably the most important one as there are already several games that can be used to play in coop and can be upgraded to interesting campaigns setups.
so gh doesnt make it for me as it feels much like a reviewed version of whq, without minis. i playedwhq again recently and frakly it isboring (too much grindy).
@B, what is appealing about it to you? Is it just the massive hype and the fact everyone is saying how great value it is? At the end of the day do you see yourself sitting down and playing the game? I don't so I am not going to buy it. I broke the habit of jumping on things just because they are great value or really popular. Too many games and miniatures doing nothing but gathering dust, which ends up actually being poor value for yourself...
@B, looking at your comments, I ended up backing it... and it's not like I have a ton of cash to spare. There is a lot of good 'hype' about it. Hype is not a good thing to follow. So I looked into it (spoiler free still) and did find the mechanics really interesting. I do not have a good dungeon crawler nor too many 'RPG board games' (GH and KDM will be the first). The art is pleasing, but as has been said in a myriad of other locations.... KDM is a luxury game. I think that all of us crave the plastic and cards and dark abyss of a box... GH on the other hand is a very tactical game that is focused on mechanics. To that end, it has stellar mechanics from what I can tell. It is a steal because it is $100 including shipping (if you live within the U.S.) for a VERY large game. Think of it simply: if you get the average gameplay of at least 100 hours of good gameplay, that's $1 an hour... pretty good if you ask me. The thing is full of content, and has some very unique features not found in other games (currently). As for the legacy component... yes, you place stickers on the board. However, I've read two main things: 1) If it really bothers you, removable stickers that ship at the same time as the game are like 10 or 15 dollars. 2) you can get around it on your second playthrough if you really want to. But... after 100 hours in a game, many people are ready to switch games for awhile. And then when you return, it will be very different from your first time playing through the story.
It is very different from KDM. Similarities being they are large kickstarters with significant time commitments.
Well... I typed all of this, was gonna say something and send it, but got sidetracked. Now it was successfully backed 30 minutes ago. But there ya' go. You either have it or you don't at this point I guess. :P
Thoughts on Tabletop Sim Sale? Obviously it's only for a few more hours....
Yeah. The mechanics seem really cool. I just wonder if it's for me with the legacy/stickers thing. I dunno. The theme isn't exactly my taste either. I don't like run of the mill fantasy but I dunno. The theme of KD:M is far more rich, tbs.
A steal? Why? It seems to be not discounted but full retail.
I'm was in the same boat @B, I decided against it. It sounds like a lot of the appeal is the 100+ hrs of gameplay...but I'm already getting that with KDM. There are so many amazing games out there, and the GH art/theme just really doesn't do anything for me. I'm sure it's fun, but...not willing to invest the time into something I'm not blown away by. I guess...just from reading about it I'm not totally clear what the hype is. It has some cool mechanics, but at the end of the day, I think a game should provoke interesting interactions with the players and/or have an extremely compelling theme. GH seems like you are mostly interacting with the mechanics rather than the other players, and the theme looks pretty minimal (mostly repainted generic fantasy tropes). Ironically, I def think the mechanics look waaaay better than KD, but...it just doesn't have the soul.
That said, if I had a group that was reeeal into dungeon crawlers I'd probably get it, but on the other hand...we'd probably just play an RPG instead.
Meh if you can afford this game Gloom haven is a steal :)
I would go with gloomhaven as well for 100 dollars the content you get is absolutely phenomenal
To Gloomhaven or not to Gloomhaven that is the question. I'm already getting KD:M.
The life of a 1st worlder. Hard life. Is anyone else in this predicament? What is your rationale?
@hugo it's a dungeon crawler with dice that determine your fate, that said there are a lot of ways to sift the balance closer to your favor. For example after each encounter you get a added skill, stats boost, or XP (for leveling up). There is a lot going on for such a small game. It's enjoyable for a 20-30 minute diversion and takes less then 5 minutes to set up.
As for being explainable, it's not that bad at all. At worst watch about ten minutes of one of Chris's videos and you are set.
It should be a snap for anyone contemplating KD:M
BTW is KD:M here yet :-)
Thanks to whoever it was that gave me advice on where to put the unknown piece on the necromancer variant. Unfortunately I still could not find the appropriately place for it. Could anyone give me further instructions or, if possible, a pic with the unknown piece in place? Here is the piece I am referring to: http://m.imgur.com/a/U1KDx
Whoa! Sorry, just asking! As I said, I wouldn't spend money on something I didn't like and was just curious. Sheesh.
@Berger I got the 1.5 upgrade for my core game to see how the changes are. Why do you care?
@ Lawrence Long - So, you didn't like KD:M, sold the expansions, but you backed the second kickstarter? Why? If you didn't like the game?
Call me old fashioned, but if I didn't like a game, I wouldn't spend more money on it....
I think they are referring to One Deck Dungeon.
Its funny to read all these GH comments about there fan base. I remember KD:M's last comments section and its was full of white knights as well. Each game is different in its own right and each has their overly passionate fan base. I personally just sold all my KD:M expansions because I didnt really enjoy the game much.. I didnt back GH because I dont have a group for it, but its on my list should my friend move back to Oregon.
Hey guys, what's the full name of that ODD kick starter you're talking about. Thanks in advance
@Justin F. It's internship positions. They hire interns in the summer periods between the school years to help with shipping. It is a good sign, though, for a late summer delivery of 1.5.
@Roar: Staffing up?! Where do I apply? :3 Hell, I'd love to apply/insist for a position (Miniature Bible Manager?) that officially tracks all miniatures ever produced in an easy to personalize checklist. Fddlstyx and Vibrant Lantern are just not scratching that itch for me. Drives me nuts that the site just takes them down instead of archiving them all in the sold out section.
@Jim is it like an RPG sort of card dungeon crawler or something? Would you say it's pretty simply to explain to someone who never played any games like this? I was think plastic, but it's too expensive.could buy GH for that price.
@hugo, I am backing ODD as you indicated it a good travel game while in a hotel on business. I would also recommend the plastic cards as they are easy to shuffle have a good feel and will most likely survive any moisture caused by ramp crew. It's a fun diversion (no KDM, but I don't have to buy it an extra seat on the plane :-) )
He could be in China checking up on the production for all we know. In one of the last updates or comments he talk about staffing up, so hopefully there is a whole team doing their utmost to deliver the game in August. But I'm probably just dreaming...
Yep. Would love an update, particularly to hear how production of the core game is coming along. I'm anxious to play but July-September is going to be a heavy month of games arriving anyhow, so I won't have a shortage of other games to play while I wait.
I'm sure we will hear something soon.
