Pookie's Cannabis Coloring Adventure
Who's coming on an imagination vacation with me? WILL IT BE YOU? Hey, let's go! This project is a cannabis-themed coloring book, as the title suggests.
Here are some details about what makes it special, and why you'll want to get your copy through this Kickstarter.
1. There is no printing on the backs of the drawings
2. Perforated pages for easy removal and coloring
3. Printed on lovely, 80lb, bright white paper stock
4. The cover is made with a deliciously soft texture that is excellent for petting
5. Because you <3 cannabis
6. Free shipping* + my gratitude
7. Get an exclusive downloadable cannabis word find
8. Eight…eight? I forget what eight is for
9. You will get three downloadable coloring pages** that are also only available to campaign backers
* If you are getting another perk that requires shipping for another physical item, this does not apply. Your book(s) will be included in the shipment.
**Additional three coloring pages for all donations at $4.20 and higher. If I raise enough extra money to cover the cost, I will have these nicely printed, and I’ll stick ‘em into the coloring books ($18+ donations).
WHY THE CANNABIS THEME?
Normalizing the discussion around cannabis is really important to me, because needlessly vilifying this plant is denying a lot of people both direct and palliative care they should be able to access, and incarcerating a lot of people who don’t need to be in jail. This disproportionately affects people of color and LGBQTIA communities, especially. Total legalization at the Federal level is a cause very close to my heart, and I want more people to be less afraid and misinformed about cannabis. A silly, sweet coloring book that paints cannabis in a positive light is my tiny contribution toward that end.
For the life of this coloring book, I will be donating 10% of all profits to Drug Policy Alliance. Visit their site at http://drugpolicy.org for information.
WHO I AM
My name’s Jess, aka Pookie McNoodles, and I am a graphic designer, web project manager, and kids educational content developer who lives in Los Angeles. I am also a founding partner of Sunday Night Records, an independent record label based in Madison, WI, and until very recently, was the creative director for an international wellness brand.
Needless to say, I keep busy. My work requires a high level of focus and attention to detail, and I’m often managing teams and working directly with multiple developers and clients.
And….I smoke cannabis throughout the day, pretty much every day.
For most of my life, I have suffered from ADD/ADHD, anxiety, GI disorder, and chronic pain. I’m not saying cannabis is a panacea, nor that it can help all people's suffering without exception. But for me personally, cannabis is perfectly suited to treating the symptoms of these specific conditions, minimizing the negative impact on my daily life and ability to function. Having legal access to cannabis has allowed me to treat these symptoms affordably, safely, and gently, using different strains and extracts for different purposes. I now do not rely on pharmaceuticals to live a functional, happy life. Cannabis is the gift that enables me to get up in the morning and do the work I need to do, to socialize with other human beings, to do the physical maintenance, like yoga, I need to keep myself mobile, and it greatly helps me to fall asleep and sleep through the night.
I also like to smoke recreationally, because I just really enjoy cannabis.
I have created this coloring book for people who want to explore the meditative, anxiety-easing, neurological benefits of coloring and cannabis.
A little more about the project
The book is complete and print-ready. I am having it printed through a company in Evanston, IL called Print Ninja. Their work is really lovely, their customer service is awesome, and they’re a small business that’s totally worthy of our support.
I will have the books in mid-November, so if you are getting one as a winter holiday gift for someone, you will have it in time. If you would like, you can even specify that I send your copy to you and other copies to the friendpersons of your choosing, which can include gift messages.

Thank you so much for your support!
All my love and gratitude to you.
Risks and challenges
There is no risk of this project not reaching completion.
The book is finished, and I am fully willing to bridge the gap, if needed. The book will be printed! The worst case scenario is that I raise zero dollars and I publish the already-finished book using Amazon's on-demand coloring book print service. I only have to sell 167 of these coloring books to hit my goal. Pretty please, share this campaign with anyone you know who might be interested, so I can make a final product that is the very best it can be. <3Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
