There's something about a Bonobo in a bespoke suit, isn't there?
An unassuming simian suaveness that permeates the air around him. Throw a pipe in there and well, it just adds to the mystery of the debonair rascal.
Maybe he's just an ape in a suit.
Introducing Bubbles O'Seven, simian star of this first 16-page mini-comic in an explosive new series.
Move over Bond, Bourne and Bauer. There is more to this Bonobo than exploding pens, rolled up magazines and "we're running out of time!"
His mission, to track down and neutralise the rogue threat of shadowy organisation, SpIWIT, is his greatest challenge to date. But is that mission as clear cut as it seems?
We've kept things simple, because frankly, the life of a simian special agent is complicated enough. There are seven reward levels (for your eyes only) which we hope will trigger your interest and explode your senses brightly enough to invest in our sophisticated simian spy.
The cast of creators working on the first issue are Matt Rooke (art), Gráinne McEntee (words), Lee Killeen (layouts), Mike Stock (Letters) and Jon Scrivens (colour assistant). We’ve also secured the rather fine talents of Andy W Clift and Simone Guglielmini for stretch goals should we swing past our target.
Matt and Gráinne have collaborated together on their other indie creation, Apes 'n' Capes. This is a good thing.
Lee Killeen has loaned his skills to Kaiju Steel and is currently working on his own title, Above Us Only Sky.
Mike Stock has spread himself far and wide and his lettering skills can be found between the pages of Mike Garley's Kill Screen series and the Samurai Slasher anthology amongst others.
Jon Scrivens is responsible for bringing his own Zombie series, Little Terrors!, to life.
So get in touch with your inner ape, because in truth, we are all simian special agents at heart.
DunDunDah. DunDunDah. DunNunNUNNUN!
Hairy High Fives,
Matt, Gráinne & Team 511.
What plans for Bubbles O'Seven's future?
All being well with this first Kickstarter, we plan to make an anthology charting Bubbles' adventures in the world of espionage. Other titles in the series will include Baboon Taker, A View of a Krill, On Her Majesty’s Simian Service, The Ape Who Punched Me and From the Democratic Republic of Congo with Love.
There will be other artists and creators involved (assuming we can convince them of course) to make it a truly interesting series. 8 episodes in all, kicking off with Dr O.
For a sample of things to come, load your chambers with the first four pages of the first instalment, Dr O.
Risks and challenges
HOW WILL YOU SPEND THE MONEY?
Funds raised will go towards the cost of the print run and paying our creative team for their time and talents who are working right now to make sure use your investment lives up to expectations.
Like our ape brethren, we like to keep things simple and uncomplicated. The rewards we have set in this project are all achievable within the set timeframes.
Our only real obstacle is convincing you - our potential investors - that we can deliver a great story and super-sexy artwork with an investment well spent on an independent comic project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
