Polyfold is excitedly in the midst of coordinating the next five month cycle of our monthly concert series, Polyfold Presents, taking place from September 2019-January 2020. Launched in the Fall of 2017, Polyfold Presents has remained a cornerstone of our efforts toward creating an open platform for musicians to present new works. Coordinating five months of these concerts means booking the venue, Scholes Street Studio, deciding on and asking guest artists and their projects to participate, pairing those projects with Polyfold member projects, and of course funding - this is where we need your help.
Polyfold is a grassroots, artist-led 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Brooklyn that helps create opportunities for improvising musicians to present creative works. With a core membership of five musicians, Polyfold produces concerts, recordings, and workshops in an effort to serve the broader experimental art community, celebrating open mindedness, honest expression and human connection. Our monthly concert series takes place in Brooklyn at Scholes Street Studio and provides an opportunity for two ensembles to present new, creative music with no expectations regarding aesthetic boundaries or commercial appeal. For each concert, one ensemble is led by a Polyfold member and the other by a guest invited by that member.
Our last six months of concerts were privately fundraised, which allowed us to introduce guaranteed payment for musicians, cover our venue rental fee, and cover our online promotion budget. The results of this financial help translated very clearly into a new level of artistic quality and diversity in our programming. In order for Polyfold’s goal of presenting new, experimental music from our brilliant musical community to continue, we need your support. Contributing to a concert series wholeheartedly dedicated to original work is not just an investment in one or even five concerts - it’s the planting of a seed for creators and audiences alike that will flower into continuously better, deeper work. Contributions made to this kickstarter campaign are tax-deductible donations. On behalf of the audiences and musicians involved in our series, and the members of Polyfold, we humbly thank you for choosing to bring this kind of artistic freedom into the future.

Risks and challenges
The challenges of running a successful concert series include conscientious budgeting, curating and hosting an event that builds a community of open-minded artists and listeners, and representing diverse perspectives and approaches to the artform. Although these are significant parts of what it takes to maintain a concert series, Polyfold has continued to meet these challenges. Going forward, our greatest challenges will include sustaining our concert series beyond this cycle and striving for the truest representation of the community we’re engaging with. Your donation will continue to help Polyfold meet and exceed these challenges
