About

Polychrome Mag. disrupts the traditional magazine narrative by creating a platform that highlights and showcases artist of color.

Polychrome is a new project created by six friends: Micah Pegues, Celeste Scott, Kennedy Williams, Gabriela Yadegari, Brandon Douglas, and Theresa Tran. We are excited to bring this collaboration to you and the PoC creative community.

What are we all about?

Danielle Murray & Kaya Bandele
Danielle Murray & Kaya Bandele

This magazine is iconoclastic! The goal is to reshape the idea of how many people of color, especially creatives of color, are viewed by mainstream media and traditional audiences. Together, our team has built an online community that uplifts PoC and elevates their work.

Where did this project come from?

"The place in which I'll fit will not exist until I make it." - James Baldwin

Polychrome's origins began on a weekly search for magazines at Barnes & Noble.

Unable to find a magazine that catered to PoC's interests and passions, this dismay turned into creative inspiration to create a magazine completely dedicated to creating a safe space and place for PoC's work to be published.

Who's featured in our inaugural issue?

Featured: Salman Toor, Adrianna Adarme, Myles Loftin, Anisa Tavangar, & Christina Chung
Featured: Salman Toor, Adrianna Adarme, Myles Loftin, Anisa Tavangar, & Christina Chung

Adrianna Adarme - creator of the recipe sharing blog A Cozy Kitchen. This Fort Lauderdale native, now living in Los Angeles, California is responsible for creating a myriad of well-loved recipes by her more than 210K followers on Instagram.

Lauren Ash - a wellness visionary, yoga and meditation teacher, creative writer, and founder of the culture-shifting lifestyle brand synonymous with black women's wellness – Black Girl in Om.

Nic Bisgaard - a rapper and student at New York University who currently writes and produces his own music.

Christina Chung - an illustrator based in Brooklyn, New York.  Through a line and pattern-based style, she creates illustrations that are sensitive, delicate and infused with symbolism.

Brina Jeffries - an experimental, forward-thinking artist whose pieces focus on highlighting the beauty in people of color.

Myles Loftin - a Washington, D.C native photographer known as "goldenpolaroid" living the dream in New York City. Now a rising sophomore at Parsons School of Design, he has captured the photography and media world with his bright take on portraiture and a rendition of art activism that gives a voice to silenced communities.

Leah Lu - a passionate creative known for her distinctive lettering and illustration style as well as her vulnerable writing style.

Trinity Mouzon Wofford - the founder of GOLDE Turmeric, a wellness collective with blends that focus on the healing properties of turmeric.

Anisa Tavangar - the editor-in-chief of Hoot Magazine, the fashion magazine at Columbia University, activist, and writer.

Salman Toor - a visual artist from Lahore, Pakistan currently living in New York City. His work oscillates between autobiography, Art History, and Pop Culture.

Risks and challenges

We are currently in the final design stages and the last step is taking the magazine to print! If we successfully fund this Kickstarter, there should be no difficulty dispatching your rewards. If we do not meet our funding goal, then production will be halted until we find another source of funding.

Any delays in production will be communicated as soon as we can. We will do everything we can to bring Polychrome Mag to you.
