Music has the undeniable power of bringing people together in ways that are relatable. As individuals, we identify with music. It encourages progressive thinking, presents questions, and provides solutions to many of the problems we face today. Music has a purpose, a reason for being amplified and shared. The purpose of reflecting the complex times we live in.
For Policulture, Reggae music has changed our lives and made us more conscious, mindful, optimistic, and sustainable individuals. It's our connection to the earth, our peers, our ancestors, and our futures that motivate us to continue to create and spread our message to new audiences. It’s these messages that need to be heard by the masses, and it’s your support that will help to make this possible. With this in mind, Policulture has created a Kickstarter to not only to assist us in finalizing the release of our sophomore album, Mountains to Cross and funding our debut national tour, but to also provide an outlet for our supporters to make a difference in the world we all live in. We want to give back to our communities, and the environment as much as they have given us, so this campaign is aimed to do just that. To give as much as we receive.
Each pledge provides the donor with a unique piece of sustainable Policulture memorabilia as well as an environmental, socially conscious act on behalf of the band. We have sourced nearly all of the merchandise available in this campaign through eco-friendly practices and materials. You can see a detailed list of the sustainable features of our merchandise and view images of each product HERE.
Each reward also comes with “Policulture Good Deed Credits.” Each pledge can use their credits to choose an environmental and/or social action on behalf of the band. Examples of these sustainable include: picking up litter, donating our time to a non-profit of your choice, creating a “care-package” for a homeless individual, and much more! You can see a detailed description and list of “Policulture Good Deed Credits”HERE.
If you choose to invest in our mission and music, we will invest in the world we all live in and it will enable us to continue to move forward on this path staying true to our mission.
Recording Process & Background Information:
For those who are unaware, Policulture is the Original Mountain Reggae band from Boulder, CO. We have been creating music together for over 7 years and have released an EP album entitled Brain Power and our debut LP album, The Bridge. We have had the honor of sharing the stage with internationally acclaimed touring acts such as The Wailers, Jimmy Cliff, Rebelution, SOJA and more.
As you can imagine, recording an album is exceedingly expensive, and Policulture cut no corners with our upcoming album, Mountains to Cross. Hiring Matt Goodwin (Easy Star All Stars, John Brown’s Body, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad) as our producer and recording engineer, flying out to Rochester, NY to record at Blackdog Studios, working with Travis Parr of Icelantic Skis for incredible album art direction, and purchasing new merchandise has left us proud to have spent the majority of our savings. With many expenses in the future to finish the mixing and mastering of this record, to publish, distribute, and ultimately send Policulture on our debut national tour we need your financial support now more than ever.
Policulture is asking for your support in meeting a goal of at least $10,000. And while we understand this world of financial uncertainty, we ask for you to not only invest in our music, but in our mission to help make this world a better place.
Some of us were raised by the heartbeat, and some of us found the heartbeat, but all of Policulture can say that this music and the times we have spent together listening, writing and performing have enriched our lives and given us greater purpose. Each lyric we sing and every note we play is our way of expressing hope in perilous times. It is evident that there is evil in our world as demonstrated by the countless acts of violence and injustice committed on such a regular basis. However, every negative situation contains the possibility for something positive, an opportunity. It is how we look at it that matters. By confronting our anger, fear, sadness, or frustration, and giving appreciation for all the blessings that we do have, we hope that we are able to change the world with this music we create. The purpose of our music is to connect with listeners in a way that elicits a deep reaction to the human experience in a higher consciousness.
Together, we will both utilize the true power of music. We will light a fire of change and revolution. Using music as a catalyst of positive influence. So please, if you can, click the green button above and back Policulture’s sustainable album release of “Mountains to Cross.” Because “every good deed shall not be forgotten.”
