The POLAR SEAL Team members have over 30 years of experience in designing, manufacturing, and distributing consumer electronic products throughout the world, ranging from IoT products to GPS devices and other appliances. We have recently ventured into the new smart textile space. We are confident that with our complimentary set of skills and years of experience, that the new POLAR SEAL collection will be produced and shipped on time.
This is our second collection of heated apparel. We successfully launched our first range of Heated Zip-Tops last year and now have thousands of happy customers in over 60 countries. Our Heated Zip-Tops have been used by professional skiers and Antarctic explorers. Our first Kickstarter campaign for the POLAR SEAL Heated Zip-Top (August 2017) and ensuing sales from our website have taught us that there are so many of you who feel cold. While many of you feel cold enjoying outdoor sports activities, many of you also feel cold at work, in your daily commute, and in other everyday settings. Some of you also suffer from extreme sensitivity to cold, not just in the winter months, but throughout the year. We have been deeply touched by the numerous messages that we have received from our users, and we are dedicated to launching a wider range of heated clothing to make feeling cold a thing of the past. Now we need your help to reach the required minimum quantities, for the manufacturing of the new electronic systems and the assembly of the clothing. We hope that your contribution to this new Kickstarter campaign will help us deliver this project.
Risks and challenges
This is our second Polar Seal Kickstarter campaign. Last year, we launched our Polar Seal Heated Zip-top line. While our production went smoothly, we experienced delays in about 10% of our shipments due to logistic problems. We have since learned from our previous campaign and improved our production and delivery efficiency. This season we will be using DHL or similar high-quality express service instead of standard air postal services, providing more reliable tracking and faster delivery.
The Polar Seal new collection is almost ready. We have completed the design and testing of the heating elements, including the heating pads and controlling PC Boards. We have made pre-production samples of the full zip-top and tested them in alpine conditions, as well as in everyday life. We now need to fine-tune the details, get the product certified for CE, and other essential regulatory standards. While there are always risks and unexpected events with any technical project, our main concern lies in the potential for delays when using subcontractors and procuring components. We are working hard though on having the first products shipped by November.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
