The All-in-One Utility Knife
Perfect Cut is a set of desktop tools that performs versatile cuts on sheet materials with thickness like cardboard, foam core, leather, and cloth. The specially designed cutter together with four minutely adjustable modules offers precise control on angle and depth of cutting to save time and increase stability. It adopts conventional 9mm snap-off blades and Perfect Cut customized blades.

Simple, Fast, Precise
Parents can make unique costumes for kids' Halloween party; modelers could do jobs quicker; designers would be able to make sketch models easier and accelerate the design process.

Vari-Angle Cutting

The Vari-Angle module could be adjusted for various cuts. It controls the angle of cutting down to a 5-degree interval. With the snap-off cutter, the cutting depth can also be controlled.

Circle Cutting

Compass cutter, which could be operated with a single hand, is capable of radius between 6 and 25 cm.

45° Cutting

The 45° module helps users to keep their blade 45° inclined to the surface of the material while cutting a spline free-handed or cutting along a ruler.

90° Cutting

The 90° module helps users to keep their blade perpendicular to the surface of the material while cutting along a ruler or cutting a spline free-handed.

Snap-Off Cutter

Special designed snap-off blade cutter uses both Perfect Cut customized blades and conventional 9mm blades. It could be used for both left or right-handed and holds the blade firmly.

Different from the previous model, we created the 45-degree blade so that the tip won't break easily and at the same time allows you to make precise cuts.

30cm Ruler

There will be four models of the 30cm/12" ruler:
- Acrylic ruler in the metric system
- Aluminum ruler in the metric system
- Acrylic ruler in Imperial units
- Aluminum ruler in Imperial units
You'll choose one among them in a survey after the project ends. Don't worry about it at this moment.

The 60cm ruler is compatible with the 45°, 90°, and vari-angle module. It can’t be use with the compass module.
There will be two models of the 60cm/24" ruler:
- Acrylic ruler in the metric system
- Acrylic ruler in Imperial units
You'll choose one among them in a survey after the project ends.

※ Artworks are work in progress, minor change will apply.

Thank You for Your Support
To everyone who backed and feedbacked the project – thank you. Your support and constructive feedback make Perfect Cut and Polarlab a reality, has changed my life, and now changing others’. The project started in Dec 2014 when I was a design student and was one of my degree projects. Moreover, now Perfect Cut got a chance to be real after years of developing and refining.
This campaign is about more than designing and backing a project. It’s a business model and a good way for designers or anyone who has an idea to be evaluated and realized as a product. In term of business, crowdfunding allows us not to compromise the functionality and creativity of the product, and in this case, we could treat our communities, backers, partners and our team (of 2 people) as peers.
Once again, thank you for your occupation, and we will continuously look to you, our community, for feedback and direction. Enjoy cutting :)

About PolarLab
We are makers, designers, and engineers. We explore the intersection of function, beauty, and intelligence of products. We investigate how products are conceived, made, traded, and used. We believe there are ample opportunities off the well-trodden paths of design and we are out to explore them. Our process is underpinned by intellectual rigor and direct research. We are crowdfunded in 2017 after we did our 1st campaign in Taiwan.

Risks and challenges
Our team have done a crowdfunding project and successfully delivered. Although there was a delay of a month, we did give our backers full transparency into the issues and how we solved them, and we will continue doing so.
However, this is our first time to make an aluminum extrusion component, and we can predict that unexpected issues can happen, so we have set some buffer on our schedule. But we are sure that we will deliver and keep you updated.
