As an artist who only paints in-situ, the opportunity of painting in the United States and bringing my techniques in perspective to such iconic places such as San Francisco and New York would give me the chance to work internationally.
The logistics of being a painter who works in and amongst the scenes I'm painting can be very tricky; carrying wet canvasses, easels and oil-based paints from place to place, it is also a way of working which immerses me into the scene, so to have a dedicated tour of painting in the United States offers me the challenge of capturing the unique essence and buzzing atmosphere of these world art capitals and devote all of my efforts to the creation of some spectacular work.
Your support of this project will enable me to fly to the USA for two months; to have accommodation and transport in two centres, first San Francisco and then New York, to purchase all the materials that I need; canvas, paints etc, the shipping home of the artwork and to help pay for my working VISA.
I am aiming for a pop-up exhibition of all of the work produced somewhere in New York to showcase this once-in-a-lifetime project before returning home.
I would love for you to be part of this and hope it is something you would like to see happen.
Very Best Wishes
Risks and challenges
Getting to America: the flights and accommodation are reserved in anticipation, plus I need the art materials, fuel, transport and working visas: I'm in the process of making sure I comply with all USA visa requirements for the trip.
Permissions to paint: I shall no doubt require special permissions to paint particular locations or interiors. Applying for these permissions is something I do on a regular basis in the UK.
Turning paintings into rewards: I'm used to working to short deadlines and getting print products out on the move. As long as I can get to power points and wifi, there will not be a problem getting your rewards shipped out to you.
I have experience in producing exhibition catalogues and calendars.
The heat! I've been warned that the extreme heat of some of the planned locations will mean painting outdoors will be hard. I like extreme painting conditions and after the cold of England this sounds appealing, but don't worry, I'll be taking care to avoid heatstroke...Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
