Introducing Podo - The First Stick and Shoot Camera
Podo is a Bluetooth connected, stick-anywhere camera that you control with your phone. Just stick it on a wall and get in front!
Preview the shot on your screen, take a pic, then watch as images get transferred wirelessly to your phone. Whether it's photos, videos, or time-lapse, Podo gets 'Everybody in.'
Highlights:
•8 MP photos, 720p 30fps video
•Full integration with free Podo app (iOS and Android) over Bluetooth

Peta Pixel: 'Instead of shooting pictures of yourself at arms length, with a selfie stick, or with the help of a stranger, you’ll be able to stick the camera to most flat surfaces and trigger the shot with your phone.'
Tech Crunch: ‘Capable of attaching and re-attaching to a variety of surface materials — we tried wood, glass, and cement at hardware incubator Highway1 — Podo’s camera lets you provide the photo booth experience at a moment’s notice.’
The Next Web: ‘I hate selfie sticks, which is why I was delighted to hear about Podo – a smartphone-controlled camera that could kill the damn things off.’
Clapway: 'Their niche seems to be all about living in the moment and having a tool that can capture that moment in an instant, in a quicker and easier real time way.'
East Bay Express: '…it kind of looks like it came out of a Pixar movie. Ideal. No wonder the campaign reached it's $50,000 goal in only 16 hours.'
Stupid Dope: 'We’ve seen all sorts of unique devices and concepts coming down over the past few years, and today we get something quite impressive and unique.'

Stretch goals:
Party Upgrade Unlocked!
Be the first to reserve your username of choice and customize your own Podo character in the app! Your account will be used to easily share with other users and will forever have an exclusive tag marking you as an original backer.
We'll also be able to inject some fun into the hardware itself! Set "Party Mode" for the LEDs and watch them dance and light up the party with your friends. Or, use the LEDs to play some games—flick the Podo and watch the light spin around until it lands on someone (like "spinning the bottle")... you're "it."
COLORS SUCCESSFULLY UNLOCKED:
Black and White/Champagne Gold accents!
Watch our co-founder Eddie explain how Podo works:
Key Takeaways:
•Podo sticks to walls, windows, poles (basically any solid surface) using a re-washable, re-stickable pad. We added a strong magnet in there too.
•Podo shoots photo, video, time-lapse, and more. You can see a live preview of the shot before you take it, so it always turns out the way you want.
•Podo shares what you capture with ease because everything transfers wirelessly to your phone. From there you can edit, share, or do whatever it is you usually do.
The Podo App is free for iOS and Android and controls every aspect of the Podo camera.
How it works:
1. After using the live preview to make sure the shot looks exactly how you want, tap the shutter, or drag and release to start a timer.
2. Podo will transfer the image to your phone over Bluetooth in just a few seconds.
3. The image saves automatically to your phone's gallery. Within the Podo app, you can then add a caption and upload directly to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr (with more to come).
The 3 modes: Photo, Video, and Auto
Photo: Single shots, double exposure, burst mode, etc.
Video: Perfect for 15-second clips (for Instagram/Vine). You can even make GIFs! Videos transfer over Bluetooth to your phone, so longer clips are possible but will take more time.
Auto: Podo can capture automatically based on custom time intervals. For example, Podo can shoot every 10 minutes to document your event or party, or create a time-lapse video. And because Podo "sleeps" in-between capturing, it can shoot hundreds of photos in auto mode for over a week.
Podo features an 8MP image sensor, Bluetooth classic, rechargeable Li-ion battery, 4GB memory, accelerometer, micro-USB port, and LEDs. The LEDs serve as indication (when Podo is on, capturing, etc.) and also serves as a really powerful flash.
We designed Podo to be super simple. Just double-tap to turn on. After the first time, Podo will pair automatically to your phone. Just slap Podo on somewhere and you're good to go.
The internal accelerometer makes sure your picture is oriented correctly, no matter which way you stick it on. (You can switch this off too).
The really cool feature is the microsuction pad. It's not a tape or glue, so you don't have to worry about replacing it every time. We like to compare it to gecko feet, or else having thousands of microscopic suction cups.
When it gathers dust from use, you can wipe it off with water and it'll become sticky again. For good measure, we added a powerful magnet too.
The freely rotating back flap is our solution to covering and protecting the sticky pad when not in use. As an added benefit, it also lets you adjust angles for your shot!
To charge, plug Podo into your computer with the included micro-USB cable. You can use it to transfer longer video files over as well.

Excited to support a cool idea? We're excited too! We're happy to offer you, our amazing backer, the following choice of rewards:
For $89, be the first on your block to have your very own Podo. We now have multi-packs available, so you can share with your family and friends!
For supporters at the $20 level, we'll send you an eco-friendly photobook filled with meaningful photos you send to us. This photobook was designed exclusively for our Kickstarter backers and will not be available again.
*Update* Thanks to you, Podo will now become reality. And with your continued support, we can accomplish more than we ever expected. New colors, accessories, features, etc. are on the drawing board. Please keep spreading the word! #podofosho :)

Hello from Eddie, Jae, and Sam! We're three UC Berkeley grads who love taking and sharing photos. We created Podo because we wanted more than fancy filters and disappearing photos. We wanted to fundamentally improve what went into our pictures in the first place.
Thankfully, a lot of people agreed with our mission and helped us along the way. We graduated from the esteemed hardware accelerator, Highway1, in San Francisco, and are continuing to work with their parent company, PCH, to tackle our manufacturing and logistical challenges. Check out this short video for a look at our experience there:
From three college friends joining forces in 2013, we've since grown into a family of engineers, designers, beta-testers, and manufacturing partners. We’re committed to delivering you the product we envisioned, without compromise.
Thank you for visiting our page and checking out our story. Before you go, please check out our website (podolabs.com) for more information! And let your friends know that there's a fun new camera in town, called Podo.
Riesgos y desafíos
"Nothing worth having comes easy,” and that's 100% true for hardware!
However, we've drastically reduced our production and fulfillment risks by partnering with PCH (pchintl.com) to manage our supply chain and manufacturing process, and deliver Podos to your door. We figured, "why go it alone?” when we could have an established, global company on our side.
PCH reviewed our project and gave us their projected timeline for delivery, which is how we determined our delivery dates. However, there always remains risks out of our control:
•Certification delays: Podo must be tested and approved by various independent agencies. We've gotten a head start on the process and expect this to be a low risk.
•Unforeseen production delays: PCH is a professional organization, and they get things done, on time, for the most demanding of clients. We expect this to be a low risk as well.
Of course, we promise to keep you updated every step of the way!
