About this project
Pushee Pieces is a fast, 5-10 minute, "think 5 moves ahead," 2-player micro-game with one trick: the pieces push.
Every time a piece is placed, it pushes pieces on adjacent tiles. This causes a chain reaction that can greatly change the board each turn. After 15 quick rounds, the players count up the points on the squares their pieces are on, and a winner is declared.
All this is presented on a hand screen-printed canvas board.
We invite you to go to the Pushee Pieces BoardGameGeek.com page and go nuts with the "likes" and "shares".
30 pieces - 15 white, 15 blue
1 double-sided canvas mat, featuring two play boards.
1 Rule Sheet (which you can check out right here)
All of which will be encased (and shipped) in a cardboard tube, right to your door!
The rules are fairly simple and straightforward:
When you put a piece down, depending on which direction it is pointing, it will push any pieces in the adjacent squares one square away.
The first player to physically push the other player goes first.
Each player gets 15 pieces to work with. The players take turns putting down their pieces and resolving the pushes and chain reactions that occur. When each player has used all their pieces (after 15 rounds), each player counts up their points depending on which squares their pieces end up on. The player with the highest points is declared the victor!
There are only two phases per turn:
1) Place piece!
2) Resolve pushes!
When a piece is placed, it can make a chain reaction of up to 3 tiers of pushes. After that, no more are allowed pushes for that turn.

DOWNLOAD THE FREE BASIC PRINT 'N' PLAY (PNP) FILES RIGHT HERE. The rule book is included in that file as well, but you'll need to get the pieces yourself. We suggest snatching the "road" pieces from a Settlers of Catan game.
Here are some reviews from several of our playtesters:
"It's a pretty great little game." - David
"I was able to play it with my kids without problem, too. They loved it, my husband loved it, I loved it." - Kelly
"Really great." - Ari
"Much more strategy than I was expecting. Much deeper than I anticipated." - Lily
"Awesome. Really, really enjoyable." - Steven
I love portable and simple micro-games. They often contain only a few rules and can be taught in just a minute or two. Inspired by Coin Age, Providence, and other micro-games on Kickstarter, I set out last winter to create a small micro-game with as few mechanics as possible.
One night, I was thinking about chess and the relationship the pieces have with each other. I wondered if I could add some fun twist where the pieces can move each other depending on where they're placed. I immediately thought about a piece that moves other pieces away from it, and then the light clicked. I took the idea and ran from there, which eventually (redesign after redesign and countless playtest hours later) became Pushee Pieces.
$2 - Premium Print 'N' Play files! This will contain all 4 boards that are featured in the stretch goals, even if the campaign doesn't get that high for the physical versions. The artwork features a bunch of monsters (more on that below).
$9 - 1 physical copy of Pushee Pieces! Plus all of the Premium Print 'N' Play files!
$17 - 2 physical copies of Pushee Pieces! Plus all the Premium Print 'N' Play files!
$25 - 3 physical copies of Pushee Pieces! Plus all the Premium Print 'N' Play files!
PREMIUM PRINT 'N' PLAY FILES
This is the relaunch Pushee Pieces campaign. During our last launch, we went for a more monster-themed version of the game. Our players love this art and idea, so we decided to keep the theme as part of the Premium PNP files. Every backer will be receiving these within a few weeks after the campaign is finished, BUT you still need to provide the pieces yourself (you can use any type of small stick piece. We recommend taking roads from a Settlers of Catan game).
Here are the 4 boards:
I (Eric Stevenson) thought up Pushee Pieces and Elizabeth Jancewicz did all the artwork. Together, our day job is as the piano/painting band Pocket Vinyl.
For the past few years we've toured around the United States performing in many bars, coffee shops, rock clubs, living rooms, basements, barns, and anywhere else that let us play. I slam the piano as hard as I can while Elizabeth paints a painting on stage every night, which gets auctioned off to the highest bidder at the end of each show. This has been our full time job since 2011.
Give us a shot and listen to some songs on our bandcamp page here.
If you like those, please like us on facebook.
We tour around the USA for around 100 shows a year. Check our our calender and please come see us if we're near you.
We have dozens of music videos, documentaries, and other stuff on our youtube page.
Risks and challenges
The biggest risk we have is delivery time. Right now it's set for "April 2015"; however, delivery could be sooner depending on the number of backers. If we just make the funding goal, and perhaps anything below $2000, we'll likely be able to get the game to backers by late February, but no promises. Since we're putting together everything ourselves, it'll obviously take a bit more time the more backers we have. That said, expect April 2015.
In terms of making the boards, we have great experience with screen-printing and we promise all boards will come out looking crisp, clean, lovingly homemade, and unique.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
