A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
We have recently asked the manufacturer in making the Pocket Flosser's main body more transparent (see fig. A) with a gray color in order for the user to see the amount of reservoir left in the product. We also added a travel case for your convenience and portability (see fig. B). No more bulky, wired charger, or problems checking in at the airport. Pocket Flosser's slim design is the perfect traveling companion along with your toothbrush and floss. Whether you're at the office or planning a trip, Pocket Flosser helps make your daily oral hygiene routine a bit more convenient and enjoyable.
Everyone brushes their teeth. But how about flossing? Pocket Flosser was created to make it too a daily habit.
Pocket Flosser is the pain-free way to floss your teeth using high pressured water or your favorite mouthwash. Its built-in pump allows you to build pressure easily *without* batteries or wires making it small enough to stay on your bathroom counter or travel with you wherever you go.
Brushing is part of our daily lives. We do so in the morning and at night. Flossing though? Not so much. It's either painful to the fingers or hard to reach the back teeth.
Interdental cleaning (cleaning in between the teeth) is an important step to achieve overall good oral health. Research shows that the build up of germs in between the teeth can cause *gum disease, bad breath, and overtime can eventually lead to tooth loss; and increased risk of heart attacks, diabetes, and other serious health diseases. (NIH Publication No. 13-1142. Periodontal (Gum) Disease: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatments." U.S National Library of Medicine. U.S. National Library of Medicine, 13 Sept. 2013. Web. 10 Oct. 2016.)
Pocket Flosser enables you to clean between your teeth and below your gum line's for a thorough cleaning.
Flip the tab and fill with water or favorite mouthwash.
Use the built in pump to build pressure.
Aim the nozzle in between the teeth, around the teeth, and below the gumline.
Flush those plaque and bacteria away!
Pocket Flosser helps disrupt the formation of bacterial colony underneath the gums, removes loosely lodged debris and food particles in areas where brushing, flossing, and rinsing alone has limited access to. Experience the ease of use, convenience, and control with the Pocket Flosser!
Our goals for Pocket Flosser was to make it convenient and as easy as using a toothbrush. Our product engineers have researched and designed around the idea of making Pocket Flosser a portable unit that doesn't rely on battery or power--just a manual pump that easily pressurizes water and/or mouthwash. With the help of our community dentists, dental hygienists, feedback from our patients and countless hours in the designing process, Pocket Flosser was born.
Pocket Flosser, like any other product, takes considerable amount of time and money in making sure it's designed to work right. In this new campaign, we were able to talk with our manufacturers to bring down the cost (and invested some of our own capital). Here's a breakdown of where the USD funds will go:
We will personally take you on our journey each step of the way and update you here on Kickstarter. From injection molding to packaging design, your love and support will help us bring this to reality! Back us up today!

Hello! My name is Carlo Ricafort, RDH (Registered Dental Hygienist) and I am the inventor of the Pocket Flosser. I studied at the University of San Francisco and received my degree in Dental Hygiene at Chabot College in 2006. I am a father of two beautiful young girls and have been married with my wife for 10 years.
My journey with the Pocket Flosser began 5 years ago where I started listening to my patient’s consistent feedbacks and concerns about the other similar dental products in the market. They all seem to want something that is easier, more convenient, and a more effective tool to use to clean their gums after brushing their teeth. As a dental hygienist, I always recommend using the string floss as a first choice after brushing but because of our lifestyle and overall “would-rather-not” attitude, I realized I needed to create a product that can inspire and motivate my patients to be better in taking care of their teeth and gums.
My goal was to create a product that can be a part of their lifestyle so that each time they visit our dental office, they can be proud to say that they have less pain and less expense. With your support, we can make Pocket Flosser a reality and available to everyone who wishes to make cleaning their teeth and gums easier. Thank you!

Risks and challenges
Risks and Challenges
Our biggest challenge is to ensure Pocket Flosser's design and functionality is consistent once it's mass produced. Because it is important to avoid any mistake along the process, we plan to be in constant contact to ensure that we waste no time creating and then fixing mistakes.
Pocket Flosser's unique design relies on a mechanical pump to build high pressure. We want to ensure that the product undergoes rigorous stress testing to ensure durability and longevity for the lifetime of the product.
It's important that Pocket Flosser maintains the proper pressure to enable thorough cleaning of the teeth and gum lines. We'll be ensuring that this important feature is not compromised by any means and will rely on calibrating the design as needed for proper functionality.
