“Hell Bent” will be a "fan movie" centered around the HELLRAISER movie series that was so popular in the late 1980s/early 90s. STORY IS KING with me as I hold a viewpoint that a filmmaker does not need a huge special effects laden budget or high priced stars to provide quality entertainment. My goal with this project is to provide the viewing audience with believable characters and a suspense filled storyline. This coupled with story elements of the HELLRAISER series will be something that the majority of horror fans will appreciate.
I believe that sometimes it is necessary to create an opportunity than wait around to be given one. Hollywood is an insular place, the odds of me being granted a job to direct a popular franchise are substantially less than slim to none. So why wait around to be anointed with a project by the so called elite in the industry? Filmmakers around the globe have inundated Youtube with “fan films” on Star Trek, Star Wars, Batman and numerous other established franchises. Some are good and some are bad but their spirit is infectious. For the most part, these “fan films” were projects that were done just for the sake of doing it. I will bring that same purity of passion to this project.
One of the reasons I've chosen the Hellraiser series to do a fan film on is because it is one of the more underrated horror franchises of the 1980s. Freddy and Jason do not leave much to interpretation but the Pinhead character and his ubiquitous puzzle box leave the door open for storytellers to come with different nuances and interpretations.
“Hell Bent” will have a running time of approximately fifteen minutes. It will be a mash-up of horror and film noir, as an escort named Cindy obtains possession of Pinhead’s Lamarchand Box. She discovers that the box is able to provide mystical sensual pleasure for her clients and her business soon thrives. But two of her competitors, Maddie and Katrina, find out about the magical benefits of the box and plot to steal it from her. What follows is a series of double crossings and triple crossings until Pinhead wants the box back himself…
As you will see in the video above, I have numerous credits in the horror genre, most recently producing a zombie anthology called “Long Live The Dead.” I have done two other fan films, “Killing Batgirl” and “Michael Myers”. You can check out Michael Myers on my Youtube page.
The donations through Kickstarter will be utilized toward principal photography (it will be shot on a Panasonic HVX200) and the pay of talent. Thank you for taking the time to check out the project. Any questions please feel free to send me an e-mail.
Risks and challenges
Everyone has a different taste when it comes to entertainment. The end result may or may not be to your liking.
Secondly, during the course of a shoot, anything can happen and anything will happen. There are a multitude of variables that may take place that could deter the shoot from taking place as planned. Rest assured, however, that I have a track record of getting things done. I have directed over 25 short films and features.
I find a way, no matter what.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
