Idols: New Beginnings (Canceled)
Her new powers are just the beginning. Will Samantha learn to harness her role in life or just become another false idol?
Often thought to be legend, the deity Xucau has long existed inhabiting the bodies of the world’s most powerful women. Choosing a new host every generation, Xucau does not control her host but instead gives her great abilities in which the host must decide to try and live a normal life with, use them for evil, or face off against evil deities resurrected in the same capacity.
Idols follows Samantha Reed, who on her 21st birthday discovers her incredible abilities and must learn what to do with these new found powers given to her by Xucau. Along with the help of her sister, Rebecca, and a very knowledgeable Ms. Natz, Samantha must learn to harness her new powers and prepare for a war of god-like humans she never knew existed.
You better show her your support, because Samantha isn't messing around.
Idols: New Beginnings tells the origin story of Samantha’s introduction to her god-like powers as well as the world of other legends. Written by Iggy Michniacki (Billie, The Escort), featuring the artwork of J.C. Grande (Johnny Monster, Necessary Evil), with the colors of Jeremy Kahn (Casper and Hot Stuff #1, Three Stooges: Matinee Madness), and lettering by Zakk Saam (Vagrant Queen)., Idols: New Beginnings is a perfectly bound 48-page graphic novel with an introduction to a new universe that Iggy has been conceiving for years. Samantha’s journey into becoming a goddess is just the beginning of a complex world filled with characters both powerful and hungry to gain that power.
Instead of issuing this story out as a quarterly comic series, the creative team felt it would be more impactful and efficient to release it in larger volumes, giving the reader not only more bang for their buck, but also fitting more story in to each release.
Idols: New Beginnings features covers from talented artist Beth Varni. The standard cover is below and the virgin variant can be seen down in the perk images.
The final cover is as seen above, subject to minor changes based on publishing logo and listing of team members.
Idols: New Beginnings is completely written and edited, with a quarter of the pages drawn, colored, and lettered. The volume will be completed during the next few months with post-production happening next springs and comics in people's hands next summer.

Publishing a comic of this size and caliber is no easy or inexpensive task. Funds are needed mostly for printing, but we also need to pay the artists, supply the perks and promotional materials, and cover the costs of the campaign.
Every dime raised from this campaign will go to the creative people that helped make this book happen as well as into future volumes of Idols, Billie, and The Escort to keep all these series moving forward and making them more well known.
Profit will not be pocketed as Project-Nerd needs to continue to grow!
The creative team for Idols is the biggest and most ambitious assembled for a Project-Nerd publication to date.

Special Thanks to Stacey Ziegelbauer for editing the campaign.
I thought Project-Nerd Publishing was picked up by another publisher, but this account is Project-Nerd Publishing and you have a comic campaign?
Project-Nerd Publishing was acquired by another publisher in 2017, but the account remains in control of Iggy Michniacki and Project-Nerd. I (Iggy) will continue to build and create projects for multiple publishers or independent printing using our existing accounts.
We saw Billie, The Escort, and now Idols. What’s going on with all of these projects?
I know people are eager for more Billie and The Escort, but I promise that Idols will be just as fulfilling. Billie: Volume Two is written, and we are working out details with the artists. The Escort was picked up by a publisher so the pending release schedule is impacted by the publisher. Idols is the third item we have in progress. Everything else I have written is on hold to focus on these three series.
Idols focuses on a deity named Xucau; isn't that a real "god"?
Xucau is THE god in Ossetian culture. We understand some people were upset when this project was first announced but we are not out to offend anybody. Xucau's powers are harnessed for good in this story, and this is all made up. Many people tell stories in all forms about gods from different cultures and religions, and we are simply doing the same here.
You were ambitious on the previous project timelines, how are you adjusting for this one?
Great question. We have a better understanding from the Billie project of what to expect for a book this size and a printer that is printing off-set overseas. The timeline we are estimating now is much more accurate and we’ll continue to update you of the progress through production.
I want to support you, but I don't see my Country as an option to ship to. What should I do?
Send us a message. We'll look up the estimated shipping price and add it to that perk level if we can (sorry, there are some countries we can't ship to).
Risks and challenges
The risks and challenges are the same with all of our previous campaigns. But with a brand name behind us, a full team already working on the project, and plenty of fans enjoying our previous works, we are certain we can deliver a high quality and entertaining product in the end. If you are uncertain of anything, take a look at the FAQs or send us a question.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
