About this project
Luxor™ Mini encapsulates the powerful features of our Luxor™ 2 into one simple pocket size device. Focus from 12° to 270° in auto and manual focus mode to deliver light designed specifically for the human eye's full range of central and peripheral vision.
Just Point, Luxor™ Mini can automatically detect where it is being pointed to deliver the perfect lighting for that situation.
Lantern - Place on a flat surface (or point it straight up) to get an instant lantern.
Narrow beam - Point at an object further away and Luxor adjusts to deliver a greater throw.
Wide beam - Point at the trail in front of you and Luxor delivers the ideal wide beam.
Flood - Point at the ground for a perfect flood light illuminating the area around your feet.
Adjusting the digital focus anywhere from 12° to 270° is as simple as a turn of your wrist.
You can adjust your light output smoothly from 0 - 100% and everything else in between with a double-tap then by pointing towards the ground for a low light output, and pointing up towards the sky for a higher light output. Release the button to set/store your brightness level.
Dust and Water Proof
Luxor™ Mini is completely water and dust proof with a waterproof rating of IPX-7 or better and highest dust proof rating of IXP-6. Water IPX-7 offers protection from complete water submersion up to 1 meter deep for at least 30 minutes. Dust IPX-6 offers a complete dust free protection for the device.

We have successfully fulfilled 7 Kickstarter projects with our tried and true methods. We're confident that our manufacturing resources, connections, and infrastructure will be able to deliver Luxor into your hands according to our delivery schedules.
Aluminum - Manufacturing Luxor's head, body and tail cap requires machining. Once the aluminum is in its final shape and form, it will be sanded and polished to create a smooth and shiny luster. A final protective coating is then applied to create the final finish.
Electronics Manufacturing and Assembly - Manufacturing the electronics requires a printed circuit board (PCB) made of fiberglass base board with copper interconnects. Luxor's complex electronics requires that the PCB be manufactured with the tightest of tolerances to ensure reliable electrical connections between the numerous components to be placed on it.
Plastic - Manufacturing the internal plastic components of Luxor requires a process called injection molding. Luxor's lens and reflector will be made from high grade, impact resistant plastic.

Risks and challenges
PLX Devices has been designing and successfully bringing products to market for over 14 years with a focus in automotive and consumer electronics. Luxor Mini is our 9th Kickstarter project. We're absolutely confident we can fulfill this project.
Mechanical Engineering - Our biggest challenge is to ensure that all the aluminum components are manufactured to our exact design specifications. We expect several iterations of samples from our overseas partners to perfect the process. Each round of samples could take as much as 4 weeks which could potentially delay the project. To avoid this, we will need to communicate clearly and frequently with our partners as well as hold them accountable to meet quality standards and deadlines.
Electrical Engineering - We don't expect any significant problems to arise as this has been our area of expertise for over a decade. If a problem were to arise, it would be in the assembly process of the electronics. Small components may not be soldered properly onto the printed circuit board thus creating unreliable electrical connections. This could potentially cause a few weeks of delay. To combat this, our electrical engineers will be working closely with our overseas partners to adhere to our strict quality standards.
Computer Engineering - We also don't expect any significant problems as this is also our area of expertise. If a problem were to arise, it would be in detecting bugs in the software code which could hinder Luxor from fully functioning. To combat this, a simple rewrite of the software code will solve any problems that may arise.
We already have our manufacturing all setup in some of the world's best factories which adhere to internationally recognized quality standards and procedures such as ISO9001, ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14000, TQM, SPC.
