Legion Meter can be ordered here at the end of this campaign.
What is Legion Meter?
Legion Meter is a device that can safely accelerate your smartphone/tablet's charging speed up to 92%. It also features a built-in multimeter for displaying voltage, current, power, and milliwatt hours on the integrated OLED display. Legion Meter installs in seconds and is fully plug and play.
*Due to continuous product improvements screen shots may differ slightly from actual product.
Legion Meter's Watt Hour (mWh) mode is useful for analyzing the storage capacity of batteries. Much like how a gas pump counts the amount of volume of gas that gets pumped into a vehicle's gasoline tank, the watt hour meter measures the amount of energy or (Watt Hours) that gets charged into any battery. This is useful for discovering the true storage capacity of batteries. Press and hold the button to reset the counter to 0.
Calculation used to determine milliwatt hours is:
Volts x ampere hour (Ah) = watt hours
Watt hours x 1000 = Milliwatt hours (mWh)
The charge accelerator circuit has two modes of operation. Apple mode and Android mode. The user selectable mode dynamically converts any USB port to optimize the charge speed by signaling your mobile device to safely draw the maximum amount of charge possible. The PLX Charge Accelerator circuit is patent pending.
*Table is based on averaged 2014 real experimental data. Individual results may vary depending on device's OS version, hardware revision, age of battery, cable selection, test temperature or the like. Android smartphone data is based on averages taken from popular 2014 Android smartphone models. Individual results may vary depending on make and model of your device. PC data is based on averages from popular 2012-2014 desktop computers. Individual results may vary depending on make and model of your PC.
**For BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Nokia, GoPro, and other devices. Use Android mode to accelerate charge speed.
***Unlisted test conditions and devices have either been untested or have negligible performance gain.
****Charge rates can range drastically based on the amount of charge that your device currently has. Charge rates were measured based on approximately 20-60% charge remaining in the device with averages taken from standard use conditions such as screen on/off, bluetooth/wifi is on/off, screen brightness at 50%, etc.
*****Update: A slide switch will now be installed to select between data pass though and charge acceleration. In charge accelerated mode, the data lines are physically disconnected blocking any data from being sent providing data safety while accelerating your charge speed. In pass through mode, data lines are connected and Legion Meter simply performs as a multimeter. See update #1 for details.
Move the integrated slide switch to Charge Accelerated mode physically disconnects the USB port's data lines (D+ and D-). This prevents any data from being transferred or synced providing ultimate safety for your data while accelerating your charge speed at the same time.
Legion Meter is patent pending.

The intelligent OLED display was derived from two other PLX successfully funded Kickstarter projects called Legion and Luxor.
Legion Meter's intelligent algorithms learn how you're using your devices and calculates your energy usage at roughly 500 times/second giving you ultra accurate power metering. Legion Meter's high contrast OLED display shows you precisely your USB port's voltage, current, power and also includes a precise mAh capacity meter counter for you to diagnose the batteries of all of your portable electric devices.
Legion Meter also employs many additional advanced features such as automatic screen saver mode, a double buffering graphics processor for seamless OLED transitions and intelligent battery monitoring algorithms.
Concept to Production
We have completed the design and optimization of Legion Meter. Now we're ready to go to full production.
For more than 10 years, PLX Devices has designed and developed award winning products in the automotive, and consumer electronics. We're the first to bring to the mass market the Kiwi, a car to smartphone OBDII interface for iOS and Android devices, pioneered in automotive internal combustion tuning electronics with our wideband air/fuel ratio monitoring devices, and we've designed and developed SEMA award winning high performance gauges for sports cars, exotic cars and enthusiasts alike. All members of the PLX team share our passion for innovative and cutting edge technologies. We hope that all of our backers enjoy our creations as much as we enjoyed designing them. Electronics Manufacturing and Assembly - Manufacturing the electronics requires a fiberglass base board with copper interconnects called a printed circuit board (PCB). Legion Meter's complex electronics requires that the PCB be manufactured with the tightest of tolerances to ensure reliable electrical connections between the dozens of components to be placed on it. Manufacturing the PCB is just half of the story. Assembling the electronics onto the PCB requires high precision machines to place and solder the tiny components. Finally, x-rays are used to inspect the quality of the solder for any micro cracks and/or any poor electrical connections. Over the past several years, we have established partnerships with strong manufacturers in Asia that can perform such a complicated process. We're very confident in our partners' abilities to manufacture Legion Meter's electronics with the highest quality standards. Here are some pictures of the machines used to manufacture Legion Meter's electronics.
Plastic - Manufacturing the plastic components of Legion Meter requires a process called injection molding. Injection molding is a process of injecting molten material into a cavity. The cavity forms the inverted shape of the part being created. High grade, impact resistant plastic will be used for all of Legion Meter's plastic parts. Here are some pictures from our manufacturing partner in Asia who will be performing the injection molding for Legion Meter's plastic components.

Risks and challenges
PLX Devices has been designing and successfully bringing products to market for over 11 years.
Mechanical Engineering - Our biggest challenge is to ensure that all the plastic components are manufactured to our exact design specifications. We expect a few iterations of samples from our overseas partners to perfect the process.
Electrical Engineering - We don't expect any significant problems to arise as this has been our area of expertise for over a decade. If a problem were to arise, it would be in the assembly process of the electronics. Small components may not be soldered properly onto the printed circuit board thus creating unreliable electrical connections. This could potentially cause a few weeks of delay. To combat this, our electrical engineers will be working closely with our overseas partners to adhere to our strict quality standards.
Computer Engineering - We also don't expect any significant problems as this is also our area of expertise. If a problem were to arise, it would be in detecting bugs in the software code which could hinder Legion Meter from fully functioning. To combat this, a simple rewrite of the software code will solve any problems that may arise.
We already have our manufacturing all setup in some of the world's best factories which adhere to internationally recognized quality standards and procedures such as ISO9001, ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14000, TQM, SPC.
The prototypes are finished and we're ready to go into production. We need your help and we hope you'll join us.
