No need to stop now!
It looks inevitable that I'll reach my goal on Kickstarter to help fund production of the 2013 Contradance Calendar. You don't have to stop—there's four more days of the project to go. Here's what the additional funding will support.
- The calendar is not paid for yet. There will be about another $3000 in direct expenses to print and ship them. Sales will make up the difference over the next 6 months, but at wholesale the profit margin is narrow. Additional Kickstarter “presales” will help make up the difference.
- I have a 2012 calendar debt to erase. I lost $6,000 last year on the project. Luckily I have a successful commercial photography business and I was able to absorb that kind of hit with only modest effects on my lifestyle. But I wasn't going to take that kind of risk again, hence the Kickstarter route.
- I have a 2014 calendar to start working on. I'm hearing rumblings that the Midwest and the South are feeling left out. If I can afford to travel there and catch some dances, they'll be in.
