- Questions and Answers:
I really like your sketches! But I want to get more than one. Is there a level for that?
Make/100 campaign focuses on a goal of 100 of a specific reward. Right now it’s split 90/10 to RAPTOR and FINCH (local shipping-free level).
If you double your pledge on either level, then send me a message, I will adjust the backer levels by one to accommodate, so the total number of drawings available is still 100. (Simply go to “Manage my pledge” through the campaign page or through your account page, and then adjust the amount from 30 to 60)
If you double your backer pledge, the shipping will NOT be doubled.
Can you do my pet bird? This famous bird? This…?
Sure! Just send me a link, a reference, or a photo, and I’ll give it a try. I’d love to draw a pet or a specific bird. Wouldn’t that make a great present for someone!
What about a mythological bird?
Sure! I’m totally game to draw a fantastical bird!
Sure! It’s all bird… basically. Except the fire, I guess?
Um… hmmm… I might try, but Fair warning you might end up getting a ‘if Zapdos existed IRL’ style of bird.
Harpies are only half bird. Doesn’t count :P
How about a dinosaur! Draw a Pteranodon!
Oh hells yes. Please ask me to draw a pre-historic giant seabird!
Bird-Brained was sparked by a number of avian studies during my odd hours, the love within the SICAGA community of all things winged and derpy, and my experiments with marker sketch techniques.
The intent is simple: If you back for the "RAPTOR" level, you can tell me a bird to draw, and a marker color of your choice, and I will draw it, scan it, and mail it to you.
If you back at any level at all you will still be able to reap the sweet reward of seeing a multitude of birds come to life on the page. Everyone who backs for 7$ or more will get a DRM-free pdf artbook of all the drawings!
For the "RAPTOR" tier, you will need to request a bird (real, imaginary, or out of popular culture, I don't mind! Have a bird in mind IRL? Send me a photo!)
And pick a Copic color for the accent of your sketch:
This example of a WallCrawler Bird is drawn with R24 for the accenting color. If you don't specify a color or a bird, I can also choose at random, and surprise you!
If we go past the initial $300 goal, we can work towards better rewards for everyone involved! The first small step would be to improve the postcards from economy prints to art-grade Linen prints from CatPrint.com (Linen finish or "Shimmer" is currently TBD)
If we can raise $800 or more, everyone who backs for at least 30$ will also receive a 5" x 7" PRINT edition of the entire sketch set, with as many pages as we receive sketch commissions (maximum 100 pages)!
Risks and challenges
This is not the first crowdfunding project I've launched. My previous campaign to fund the publication of my first graphic novel, Aspect Vol 1 back in 2012 was a huge success, and taught me a lot about being prepared for the fulfillment of a Kickstarter.
Compared with the burden of accepting a freight palette of books and make a shipping assembly line, I'm looking forward to the constraint of a Make/100 style campaign. I've been drawing for over a decade now, and I've already got over a dozen bird drawings in the works, and all the art supplies and materials accounted for. The largest cost and risk of this project is actually the shipping, and I've done the best research I can to budget for packaging and postage ahead of time and incorporate that into the shipment cost.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
