A plexus is a network of nerves, crucial to communication between the systems in our bodies. In August 2011, we created our own plexus, one that brings together creative minds from all disciplines through a unique event series. Our mission is to spark connection within our Upper Manhattan community, unrestricted by academic formality. Once a month, two or three speakers across the arts and sciences share their work with an audience of peers.
Plexus needs your support! Your money contributes to each of our financial needs:
- Space rental. We need money to secure a venue, but don’t want to charge entrance fees. Plexus will not compromise accessibility and inclusion!
- Food and drink. We like to make events comfortable and fun. Yes, we hand out cold beers and tasty snacks, courtesy of Purple Catering.
- A/V equipment. Plexus has been graced by some pretty amazing presenters, ranging from writers and visual artists, to scientists, engineers, and everyone in-between. Events require mic cables, computer cords, a projector. Help us keep Plexus looking and sounding good.
- Presenter stipends. People put time and effort into sharing their work with us. In return, we want to show them some love. Your money will help artists get here, so they don’t have to shell out gas money or Metro swipes.
Thanks so much!
See you at the next Plexus,
Shreya and Lucy
