A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
We believe in a much more convenient future, a future where all backpacks are totally adaptable to your needs. With that in mind, we’ve created a bag that will meet your needs like no other on the market. It's the first of its kind, incredibly thin backpack for your daily needs. It has a unique expandable system, allowing you to create a huge spacious bag whenever you need it.
A modern person needs just a laptop bag to go to work or for a walk. But what if you need to carry much more things?
That's when modular backpacks come in handy. But wait. Think for a second. What if you left additional modules at home? How will you be able to increase the carrying capacity of your backpack if you needed unexpectedly during the day?
Pleatpack is сreated to solve this problem.
No one likes not having enough space in a backpack. The 20.7-liter main compartment acts like an accordion. It expands by just one pull allowing you to store all your purchases or gym clothes.
Pull the front panel to turn your 6-liter backpack into a huge 26.7-liter one.
No more bulky bags. An awesome, slim laptop bag can easily contain everything that fits into your huge daypack.
The drop-resistant laptop compartment is slim but spacious enough to store your urban essentials like chargers, cables, and adaptors. It’s perfect for urban dwellers.
"Pleatpack is perfect for switching seamlessly between traveling within airports, day hikes, beach sports, souvenir-shopping, and city-touring" - Ivan Hong, Medium.
As soon as you get to the place, take out all your personal stuff and leave only the tech accessories that you need. Enjoy discovering the area with a slim backpack.
No one likes constantly hooking up additional parts to their backpack. So we made it simple. It's just one move, just one second from a thin backpack to a huge one.
We've been working on this expandable system for over a year. And finally, after many models and prototypes, we are proud of how it works, how it looks, and how strong it is.
Hidden zippers on the back andthe special security front panel won’t allow thieves to get inside your Pleatpack.
How does it work? When you close the top flap over the protective panel, the backpack remains tightly closed thanks to the magnets sewn into the front panel as well as in the cover. This prevents thieves from opening the compartment and stealing your belongings without you noticing.
Please take into account that the built-in lock is an expensive part of the backpack and it’s not very easy to sew it in. In order for us to be able to offer you Pleatpack for a fair price, we decided not to put the lock until more backers are interested in our product. The built-in lock will be available for every backer for free, as soon as we reach our "Built-in lock" Stretch goal.

Risks and challenges
We are a team of designers, engineers, and operational experts. For the past 14 months, we devoted all our time to this job to improve the design, production, and logistics. We have an understanding of what goes into making this product. And our manufacturer partners are ready to do their part.
Although it’s difficult to predict everything, we ’ve created contingency plans in case any unforeseen problems come up. We are ready to face unexpected challenges throughout our startup journey, and we’ll do our best to quickly find a solution.
The photos and videos presented a prototype. The final version could vary. We will try to make the Pleatpack even more lightweight, slimmer and nice-looking. All major details will remain the same.
We pledge to keep our backers well informed in a timely manner throughout the entire production process and to deliver the Pleatpacks to you as planned.
