The works of Edgar Allan Poe under a microscope!
On a tabletop lies the quaint and curious work of Edgar Allan Poe. Newspaperman. Playwright. Critic. Humorist. An itty-bitty puppet repertoire of obscure curios, marginalia, and even a couple popular classics from America's most versatile writer.
I’m Intrigued -
This August, POE-DUNK – A MATCHBOX ENTERTAINMENT has been invited to the 2011 New York International Fringe Festival.
Playlab NYC was born out of a desire to create the type of theater that excites us and is fun. In 2008, the Astoria based company produced their first play, THE TEMPEST by William Shakespeare at Socrates Park, Astoria NY.
For the past two years Playlab NYC has participated in FringeNYC and we are pleased that they’ve asked us back for a third consecutive year! POE-DUNK is inspired by the work of Edgar Allan Poe. One performer, one hour, nearly 40 pieces… that’s one of Poe’s stories or poems every 90 seconds!
That sounds like fun -
We agree. A show that is ambitious as this one takes a great deal of passion and resources. Your pledges will help us cover our festival fees and support production and marketing costs. This includes things like: rehearsal space, building materials for the matchbox pieces, costume and prop pieces as well as compensating our crew and artistic staff for their tireless help during the production.
When you think about the cost of a cup of coffee, even the one you can get from a food cart around the corner, think about donating it to our project. We would be ever so grateful.
