Hey everyone! Nayan here with the update you've all been waiting for. That's right! We're talking revised stretch goals. We appreciate all the comments we get every day about how we can improve the Kickstarter. Your assistance in this campaign has been invaluable.

We’re here today to ask everyone’s opinion on our stretch goals. Specifically, as this is our first attempt at a Kickstarter fundraising event, we were most afraid of not reaching our funding goal, and we lowered our estimates in order to try and avoid that outcome. The problem is that that was reflected in our stretch goals.

Once we got our Kickstarter campaign started, we got together at a development meeting to decide on and implement our plans for the game, and have also been discussing with interested parties who are willing to help with the porting process and other parts of the project. This is where we decided to review our resources so that we could come up with more realistic goals that we would be able to provide with the means available to us, while maintaining the same level of quality that our fans have come to expect from us. We came up with our new stretch goals based on this.

What do you think? We want to create a project on Kickstarter that will realize all of the demands we have received from you, our fans. Regarding character switching, we plan on implementing this feature as a collection of ideas that can be explored in each character’s individual story. This allows us to revise our resources and where we can allocate the overall budget. And don’t worry about the Hell Temple. We’ve already stated that LA-MULANA 2 will be similar in scope to its predecessor. In other words, this has already been included in our plans. What is dependent on a stretch goal is the additional Evil Stage, which will be even more challenging and nefarious!

Regarding the goals from Wider Localization and below, we are hiding the funding amounts for the moment as we have received a variety of offers from interested parties and are currently negotiating with them to rework the estimates.

Although we can’t fulfil every demand, we’re trying to respond to as many voices as we can. We’re sorry for how clumsily we've handled the stretch goal revision.

We’d sincerely appreciate any frank feedback you may have.

      I'm not confident this will happen, given how late in the piece the stretch goals were mentioned, but I'd love to see the Mac/Linux ports. There were several people I wished to introduce La Mulana to, but I couldn't due to their running OSX or Linux.

      I really thought that the original stretch goals were too ambitious, so it's good to see a revamping of them. I hope you get to a high level; let's hope for a rush in the final days.

      Oh, and other commentors: The $300,000 stretch goal is for a BONUS evil stage, beyond Hell Temple 2: Electric Boogaloo or what have you. "And don’t worry about the Hell Temple.       Same question as Nicholas Kirk:
      Are "character switch" and "character stories" now together on the $350,000 tier?
      That is the feature I want the most, as playing with many characters effectively multiplies the length of the game.

      MOD tools could be included way after the initial release (with profit from the post release sales), bringing in a new wave of customers... The same can be said about most porting work, and they are not as expensive work as actually developing content and leaving the original code easily later-portable.

      I totally agree with this new list, as the tiers are way "moar" affordable and non-content related stretch-goals are put lower on the priority list (and maybe you can get a way to get those funded after the initial deadline).

      I'm glad you lowered the Home Consoles 1 stretch goal. I would love to see the game on Wii U. It still seems pretty far off, but you never know.

      Those new stretch goals are more realistic and engaging, but it does hurt your credibility that you could pull halved costs out of some hat. Still, I hope this has the intended effect!

      I love these new stretch goals! Things seem much more attainable now, which is going to help a lot. You didn't handle this sloppily at all: you've been very communicative and receptive to our feedback the whole time. Keep up the good work!

      Unrealistic stretch goals amount. If within 15 day we've reached 164K....how do you plan to reach +400K in the next 16 days?? 300K for the (very desired) Evil Stage seems reachable, but beyond this seems so much more difficult.

      I find most of them unreachable...so why bother :(

      I recommend: do not forget to announce this to the media. I hope that many people doubting because of this reason are now willing to participate. But for that, they have to know.

      I think the revisions are great. I do agree that the list of stretch goals should be moved closer to the top of the page, so they catch people's attention right off.

      Very happy to see that Mac/Linux support has lowered from 500K to 400K. I'd still be much happier if it took even higher priority (should be the first stretch goal if you ask me). But anyway, happy that a Mac/Linux version is 100K closer to reality now :)

      I don't consider this revision sloppy at all. It's upfront, more accurate and it even made me glad that you prioritized content over all else. (I did suggest moving up the port goals but that's mostly for the belief that more ports = more backers. Who knows?) I'd leave it the way it is.

      I'm really hoping you take in enough to get the bestiary. I really loved how so many of the enemies from the first game were based on actual legendary monsters, like the flaming poop horse thing, which is seriously from actual folklore.

      As a Linux user, seeing Linux support in a game always makes me more likely to buy it. In this case, I'll play it in Windows if I have to (and I was able to get the first game running in Wine with very few problems), but there have definitely been times where I've been on the fence about supporting a game, and it running on Linux pushed me to support it.

      I (still) don't think mod tools should be the lowest priority thing. As I've mentioned on a previous update modding tools are a great thing for game lifespan. It improves replayability a lot and some of the things people make for moddable games are really quite amazing. At the very least I think a mod tool release should be considered as a post release item depending on sales.

      I'm thrilled to hear that there will be a Hell Temple-like stage independent of stretch goals. I feel Hell Temple is a big part of LM1's charm, and it would be a shame for it to be missing.

      That said, the Evil Stage goal is at a very attainable amount now. When I originally gave my advice of making some of the goals cheaper, I felt bad to offer such an idea as it could be seen as rude. But I really think several of these goals are now truly within reach, and should encourage more people to back, or raise their amounts.

      I'm also very happy with the new prioritization of the goals.

      I think the list is looking much better, though it is sad to see the enhanced port of the first game and the mod tools so high up. I think that is reasonable, though, as the enhanced port doesn't affect this project and could be a separate effort, and the mod tools shouldn't be a goal for the initial release anyway. I think with that in mind it makes sense for those things to be high up.

      That said, I still firmly believe that you will get more pledges by further lowering the tier at which you offer a linux and mac port. The people who use those systems are more likely to pledge if they feel the port is attainable, and putting it at a lower tier is a sign that you would like to meet them halfway. I think making these ports the 300,000 goal would net you a big jump in pledges. The same is obviously true of the console ports, but I'm under the impression it's a much lower barrier to do the linux and mac ports than get licenses and extra testers for consoles.

      Finally, it's sad to see the guidebook so high! I wish it could be way lower, even just before the console ports, but I know those ports bring in more people than a guidebook will. I guess if it doesn't happen we'll eventually see a translation online, at least.

      I hope what I said proves to be helpful... I'm confident you'll be funded no matter what, but I do hope you get the funding you need to hit some extra goals. You can do it!

      With this line-up of stretch goals, a lot of them seem much more obtainable! Most Kickstarters do not go in the millions of dollars or make 10x their goal, so it's good to see a more reasonable outlook. While before I had resigned to thinking of only meeting the goal, now I would definitely like to see us hit $350K.

      The wider localizations and versions on other platforms could be profitable ventures. Especially for widely owned platforms. Regardless of whatever the Kickstarter raises, I hope these possibilities will be investigated if not right away then sometime in the future.

      Awesome! Now the rewards are more accesible and have a better order! I'm really hoping you reach the "Home Console Versions 1" (because I have a Wii U)! But if we reach it can we change how we're getting the game? I mean: Will we be able to select if we want the game for Steam or the home consoles?

      This is so much better! The only thing I'd change is to put mod tools, and maybe the guidebook, a bit higher up on the list. To me, stretch goals that improve the basic product are more important than stretch goals that give different ways of playing the project. But maybe that's just me, and I don't truly know how resource-intensive mod-tools would be.

      Also, it is relieving to know that we will get the hell temple no matter what.

      I would have preferred Additional Evil Stage and Character Stories to be closer, but this is still attainable. I may raise my pledge soon.

      I personally don't care about any stretch goals that aren't more game. Stories and other stuff to read don't seem to be worth a smaller game, less diverse enemies, fewer interesting puzzles, fewer locations, fewer items, etc.

      This is great, much much better than the previous stretch goals with emphasis on what is really important. Well done !
      Although if it was just up to me, I would put "Additional Evil Stage" as the top priority at 230k instead of the Father's diary, because evil stage should really be a part of the game (it was in the original La Mulana, and La Mulana 2 is supposed to be even better, bigger, stronger :)
