Enemy Graphics: Complete

As of today, we've finally finished off all of the enemy character graphics.
The images are all finished, so now all we have to do is check the movements, attacks, and animations of the final products.
Then we'll be able to check placement, terrain, and strength in the time leading up to release.  

Even after spending all this time on development, there are still plenty of things we'd like to tweak and brush up, but there is also good a number of areas for which specs have been cut back as well.
But even so, we continue to stick with our initial desire to ensure that players will be surprised by something or other each time they play La-Mulana 2.
We've made it so that you just can't see and experience everything with just a single playthrough (and we don't mean simply "you have to play it on Hard Mode, too").

今日、全ての敵グラフィックの仕上げが完了しました。
絵が完成したので、完成品として動きや攻撃、演出のチェックが残るのみ。
あとは配置や地形、強さも配信までの期間しっかりチェックできます。  

これだけ開発期間をかけてもまだまだ手を入れたい部分もあるんですが、当初の予定よりも仕様を削っている部分も多々あります。
それでもLA-MULANA2は挑戦し続ける人には遊ぶたびに驚きがあるようにというコンセプトは外しません。
ハードモードのみならず、一度の攻略では全部見られないような作りになっています。

Ending

We've created an ending demo.
I mean, we obviously can't show it to you yet, but still.
We've gotten as far as to have the scene changes match up with the music, and we've stuck in the end credits as well.  

Now all we have to do is create the assets to stick on top of that and it'll be finished, but we're not gonna do that just yet.
Why not? Because once the ending demo is finished, you get this sense of "it's finally done!" and I'm afraid that that's going to lull us into a false sense of security.  

The development team is still working hard, going through fixes and adjustments at lightspeed.

エンディングデモを作りました。
当然お見せすることはできない。
音楽に合わせて場面が切り替わり、スタッフロールが流れるところまで仕上がっています。  

あとはこの上に重ねる素材を作れば出来上がりですが、まだやりません。
というのも、エンディングデモを作ってしまうと「終わった感」がハンパないので気が緩んでしまいそうで怖いのです。  

まだまだ開発陣、ものすごいスピードで修正や調整を繰り返しております。

Localization

The localization is coming along really nicely.
We've been doing a lot of back-and-forth with the translators, as they send us questions and we send back explanations and hints and such.
This is a picture of our "Consolidated Message Display Field", used to check translation data swiftly and effectively.
It looks kinda like a graveyard, doesn't it?  

Anyway, as for La-Mulana 2, initially it will feature Japanese and English language support.

翻訳作業がかなり進んでいます。
頻繁に翻訳者から質問が入り、ヒントの解説を返す日々です。
画像はその翻訳データのチェックを迅速に行うために用意された「全メッセージ陳列フィールド」です。
なんだか墓場みたいですね。  

そんなLA-MULANA2ですが、初期対応言語は日本語と英語です。

I guess we hadn't really done an official announcement yet here in these updates.
La-Mulana 2 will be available from PLAYISM this summer. Both the Windows and Mac versions are set to be released on PLAYISM and Steam.  
Please forgive us for not stating a specific date; you never know what's gonna come up, you know?
But since the release date shouldn't need to be changed too greatly, let's say it'll be somewhere around July or August.
The main thing is that there are a lot of decisions - for example, releasing it simultaneously in Japan and other regions, etc. - that we simply can't make on our own.

Right now, I'm working on finalizing the data for the music in order to send it off to have the mastering for sound levels done.
There are over 60 tracks. I think that's even more than the previous game.
Some tracks have been recycled from the previous game, but still, that's a lot!

そういえばこのアップデートで正式に発表はしていなかった。
LA-MULANA2は今年夏、PLAYISMより配信。Windows・Mac版をPLAYISM、Steamから配信予定です。
何月何日と正式発表しないのはお察しください。何があるかわからないし。
とはいえまた大幅にずれることはありません。7月か8月のどこか。
日本やその他の地域との時期合わせとか我々だけでは日付を決められないことも多いだけです。  

そして私は音楽データの音量のマスタリングを外侮の人にやってもらうために最終データを仕上げています。
60曲超えました。前作より多い?
前作からの使い回しがあるとはいえ、すごいねー。

Issues noticed while having people play the first part of the game at BitSummit; additional traps, as it didn’t feel like there were enough; parts of the animation that felt somewhat lacking; balancing of enemy characters; balancing of items/money; etc.

Setting aside some as-yet incomplete resources, we’re beginning testing and fixes for the almost-finished product.  

At BitSummit, players were able to play from where the game starts off, above ground. The various signs contain the required text, and villagers can be seen walking around.

OK... now what should I write about for the updates between now and completion?

BitSummitで冒頭部分を遊んでもらって気づいたことや、不足している罠の増加、演出面の足りないところ、敵キャラのバランス、アイテムとお金のバランスなどなど。 未完成リソースなどは置いといてほぼ完成品のテストと修正を始めています。  

BitSummitでは地上のゲームスタートから遊んでもらいました。 看板のテキストや村人も歩いてます。  

さぁ。これから完成まで何をアップデートに書こうかなぁ。
