Playing Grounded Puzzles: Collector Quality Geek Art Puzzles
Limited edition puzzles featuring masterpieces from independent manga, anime, gaming and graphic novel artists from around the world.
Hello Kickstarters, we are Eric and Lara Andersen, founders of Playing Grounded Puzzles. We've always loved jigsaw puzzles, and dreamed of the day that we could start our own puzzle company making high quality puzzles with eye-catching art that we love. So, in May 2013 Playing Grounded Puzzles was born. In an effort to offer a fresh, new way to look at jigsaw puzzles, we've spent the last two years researching and contracting extremely talented artists and photographers from around the world. To date we have compiled a diverse collection of spectacular, original artworks for our puzzles.
Why Puzzles? Besides the fact that we've been avid puzzlers for about 20 years now, we love puzzles because they're challenging, make for a fun social activity, or in our case, a great date night, and they make unique and economical wall art. Also, a jigsaw puzzle allows us to take part in the artist’s creation by putting it together piece by piece. You get to appreciate the most minute details, and, of course, the finished product.
Why Kickstarter? Manufacturing quality jigsaw puzzles can be an expensive process, and we want our puzzles to be high quality to compliment the art that they feature. We've pooled our funds and resources to get the art, and now we need your support Kickstarters to turn these masterpieces into puzzles. Our puzzles will be made right here in the U.S. to the highest possible standards.
We Love Our Artists! We try to build lasting relationships with the artists we work with. We have great respect and admiration for their talent, and the time and effort they put into honing their skills and creating their art, comics, graphic novels, etc… By backing our puzzles on Kickstarter, you also help to support them. The first selections in our jigsaw puzzles include art from: Fuzichoco, Sarah Webb, Anuka Baratashvili, and fellow Kickstarters Daniel Lieske (“Worm World Saga”) and Brett Brooks (“Dust Bunny” and “Deuces Wild”).
Puzzle Specs- Each puzzle featured on Kickstarter is 1000 pieces and will measure either 20 x 27 inches (50.80 x 68.58 cm) or 17.25 x 26.50 inches (43.815 x 67.31 cm) depending on the puzzle you choose. They will be manufactured with the highest quality puzzle board and print paper available. Each puzzle will come in a limited edition numbered Kickstarter box as seen above.
So if you, or someone you know, loves puzzles and great art, please support our Kickstarter, AND PLEASE SHARE! THANK YOU!
Risks and challenges
This is our first Kickstarter, but it is not the first time that we have coordinated production for a product. We realize that anything can happen, but we have done our best to reduce the chance of delays at every step. Having our puzzles produced in the U.S. not only allows us to have better quality, but also eliminates a lot of risks that come with overseas production. Our greatest risk comes from the size of our company- there are only three of us. So, if one of us gets sick at a bad time, it could push things back a bit, but we’ll keep popping the vitamin C and zinc drops, and strive to hit our target ship date.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
