WHAT IS PLAYFEST SANTA BARBARA?
PlayFest Santa Barbara is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that will stage professional theatre readings of original new plays and musicals, as well as, new translations and adaptations of classics by emerging and established writers. We will also conduct workshops, lectures and interviews from master theatre artists.
PlayFest Santa Barbara is dedicated to the discovery and development of new plays, musicals and audiences.
Our vision is informed by our commitment to performing arts virtuosity. We aim to create a haven for diverse artists to develop and celebrate classic and new literary and musical works from conception to completion.
We are committed to providing an exciting and creative environment for artists to hone their skills and promote their talent with the support and guidance of the world’s leading professional theatre artists.
Above all, we expect to be a credit to the communities we serve, a valuable resource to our audience, and a place where dedicated artists can grow and prosper. Toward this end, we will not only listen to our audience and artists, but also embrace the idea that PlayFest Santa Barbara is at their service.
We believe the first amendment to be one of our greatest gifts and we intend to honor it the best way we can. The broadest base of financial support for PlayFest will allow us to provide the greatest creative freedom for our artists. With you, as our producer, we feel we have a better chance at presenting the playwright's true vision.
