Rewards Update

Posted by PJ Montgomery (Creator)

As of today, all the Kickstarter copies of Steve Jackson's The Trolltooth Wars have gone out in the post! If you haven't already received your physical rewards, they are now on their way to you. We would kindly ask that you allow a few days for delivery. We obviously have no control at all over the postal system, but are hoping they get all rewards to their destinations quickly.

If when your rewards arrive there are any issues, please send me a message and let me know. When you're packaging upwards of three-hundred parcels by hand, there's every chance a mistake could happen here and there. We're only human, after all. But we'll gladly rectify any errors as fast as we can.

The next thing we'll be sorting out for you is the digital wallpapers. We saved these for last so that they didn't take any time away from getting the book ready and sending it out, but now this is all done, Gavin can format the images for you guys, and we'll get them over to you. This will be done via a link to a dropbox folder that you guys will have access to. You'll be able to download the wallpapers from there. You'll all be receiving two wallpapers for use on your computer, and one more formatted for smartphones. This link should be e-mailed out to you all within the next couple of days.

I wanted to take a moment here to thank everyone who has already received the book, and reached out on Kickstarter, Facebook or Twitter to say how much they've enjoyed it. It means a lot to us that you guys like it, and makes the whole thing worthwile. That said, there have been a couple of people who have queried a moment towards the end of the book. Without spoiling anything, yes, that blank page in between two of the final scenes is supposed to be there.

Anyone who didn't back the Kickstarter, but has pre-ordered in the last couple of weeks, your copies will be sent out next. With that in mind, we're now going to change the online store so that it's no longer taking pre-orders. If you buy from the store, you're simply buying the book, and it will be sent out ASAP! If you know anyone who wants a copy, feel free to share the link around.

Pledge Fulfillments

Yes, the day some of you thought would never arrive is here. Books have finally started going out! We had notice that we'd be receiving the new badges this Tuesday just gone (May 30th), and they arrived as planned. Once we had this date, we were more than happy to start sending out the packages that didn't have badges, and the first of these went into the post last Friday. Since then, we've been making multiple trips to the post office to get more in the post. As I type this, around 100 or so parcels have gone out.

We are still waiting for the copies signed by Steve Jackson to come back to us, but these are due to be picked up from him next Tuesday, arriving back with us on Wednesday. We'll then get these packed up and sent out with the others.

You will have to bear with us slightly as we send them out. Another of the drawbacks of being an indie book is we have to do all of this ourselves, and there are only so many books you can carry to the post office in one go. However, we are endeavouring to send out as many as we possibly can each day, and I'm hopeful that they'll all be in the post within the next couple of weeks. I know some people have already started receiving them, and I hope you guys are enjoying it!

With this all in hand, we've also set up an online store to sell the book on. We're not going to start doing so until all the Kickstarter copies have gone out (we want you guys to have it first, after all), but we are taking pre-orders. If you know anyone who wants a copy of the book, but wasn't able to back the Kickstarter (and I know there are some of you who follow these updates that didn't back), you can pre-order your copy here.

Gavin and I also did an interview with Pipedream Comics about the book. You can read that here, and check out their review of Steve Jackson's The Trolltooth Wars here.

Thanks guys!

Update on Dispatch

Posted by PJ Montgomery (Creator)

Hi everyone,

So, we have hit a slight snag on sending everything out to you guys. While the books and prints are all fine, the company which was printing the badges for us has e-mailed us to let us know that they've had a small fire in one of their factories. Apparently, it didn't affect any of their machinery, but did cause damage to some stock. They couldn't tell us initially if our badges were among the damaged stock or not, but we've now had confirmation that they were. Meaning the company has to make the badges again before they can send them onto us. We've been in constant contact with them since the fire, and they've assured us the badges should be here by the end of the month.

We did have a look at whether we could maybe send out the books and prints without the badges, then send the badges out separately at a later point, but while it doesn't cost much to send each individual badge set, the number of them we'd have to send means it all adds up, and we simply don't have the funds to cover this extra cost.

I'm so sorry everyone. I know this is yet another delay when we're painfully close to getting everything to you. I hope you can understand that this one is completely beyond our control, and we are doing everything we can to rectify the issue as quickly as possible.

I know not everyone has backed at a level that includes badges, but we didn't want people receiving their books possibly a couple of weeks before we'd even started sending everyone else's. But rest assured, as soon as the badges arrive, the parcels will start going out.

Thanks all,

Trolltooth Wars Has Gone To Print!

Posted by PJ Montgomery (Creator)

Yes, the book is finally with the printer (I know, I know, about time, etc). We've had the digital proofs back today from Comic Printing UK, and given them approval to go ahead, so the printing itself will get underway imminently.

Once the books arrive with us, we'll still need to send the copies that require Steve Jackson's signature off to Steve. While we wait for those to come back, we'll start getting all the unsigned copies sent out, as well as all the other rewards.

With that in mind, I'll be closing the surveys soon, so please make sure we have all your up to date address details so we can get your rewards to you. I'm going to leave them open until next Saturday (13th of May), so you've got until then to make any changes if you need to.

Thanks all!

Status of the Project

Trolltooth Wars is continuing to move towards completion. The book isn't with the printer yet, but it's close. Steve Jackson requested a couple of small edits, which have been made. We've also run the comic by Jonathan Green for his feedback, and he's pointed out a few more corrections which need to be made. At the same time, Gavin has been working closely with Mike, our book designer, and Rich at Comic Printing UK to make sure the book is all in the correct format for printing. Gavin has had to tweak some of the colours slightly for the printer, and Mike is now working on collecting the newest versions of the pages together ready for print. Once he's done so, Steve has to approve the changes, then we go to the printer.

We've asked the printer how long the turn around should be once we send them the book, and they've advised us this should only be a week. So we're hopeful that the book will be with you very soon.

We have had one minor setback, to do with the packaging we ordered to send the books out to you with. We wanted to order this so that we had it all before we had the books, and could just start sending them straight out once they arrived. However, yesterday the supplier we selected unexpectedly cancelled the order without any explanation. They've contacted us today to say that this was a system error, and said we can place our order again. We have done so, and the packaging should still be here before the books.

We are very aware of how long this has taken, and how frustrated some of you are by this. I'd already announced that by way of an apology, we're including a bonus print for all backers who are due a physical reward. This means some of you will be getting six prints instead of the promised five. The print will be a splash page from the comic itself. It's a page you haven't seen yet, but Jonathan Green has seen it, and commented that he loved it.

As well as the bonus print, we've also decided to upgrade the badge set for backers. The original plan was a set of four badges. Three of these would feature designs by Gavin to represent the three forces involved in the Trolltooth Wars (Balthus Dire, Zharradan Marr and Salamonis), with the fourth being the Fighting Fantasy logo. Well, you're still getting the three standard badges designed by Gavin, but the FF logo badge will now be a deluxe enamel pin badge. This will look a lot classier, and be highly collectable, since they're only going to be available to you guys. The cost of the extra print and the upgraded badge is not covered by the Kickstarter budget, and is coming entirely out of our own pockets. We know it doesn't entirely make up for how late the book is, but we hope it goes some way towards it.

Thanks all.
