About this project
I'm planning a mosaic called "Gray Matters" that will pay tribute to Albert Einstein. It will be made from 8,484 Rubik's Cubes and measure 37' by 7'8". It will weigh over 2000 pounds when finished. I'm going to build it in my San Francisco art studio in 80 hours or less. Once it's built I'll bring it to Grand Rapids, Michigan and enter it into ArtPrize and hopefully this time take home a prize. After ArtPrize I hope to bring it on tour around the US and abroad.
In 2010 I created a mosaic of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. using 4,242 Rubik's Cubes titled "Dream Big". It was entered into ArtPrize where I placed in the top 50 out of 1,700+ entries. I had to disassemble the mosaic and ship the cubes back to their owner. It was heartbreaking that I couldn't find a home for it. Not because of how much it meant to me but how much it ended up meaning to the people who came to see it.
I appreciate your support very much.
