Progress and Merry Christmas!

Hi all,

Some great news for you today - the first 500 units have been shipped and are currently looking like they will be with us on the 29th December! The following 1500 units are due to be finished at the factory on the 30th December and will be shipped immediately after their completion so we should have the full stock around the 8th January.

We actually have the screens in our warehouse already (and have done for many months as we ordered them during the campaign) and we have been busy inserting them into protective, anti-static packaging over the last week. We will be adding the relevant screens to each box as we ship out orders:

Here are some more pictures from our manufacturer that they have taken during the production process:

Sorry that the pictures are not the best quality, but hopefully you can see what we have all been up to both here and at the factory in China!

PiZero and PaPiRus

I am sure you have all probably now heard of the Pi Zero, and were excited as us to hear of it's launch. As soon as we managed to get our hands on one (on the front cover of The MagPi magazine) we quickly realised that the Pi Zero was literally made for the Medium sized ePaper screen (2.0" one):

At the beginning of last week we set to work on tweaking the PaPiRus design to fit onto a Pi Zero. There is a lot less space, and we can only assemble on one side so we had to get rid of quite a lot of the components - there is no RTC, level shifting, EEPROM or 40 Pin FPC cable breakout. Since the design is almost identical other than that, it was just a case of reworking it onto a smaller footprint:

As you can see, we have also retained the jumper selector (meaning you can use it with any of the 5 screen sizes we sell - 1.44", 1.9", 2.0", 2.6" and 2.7") and have also attached 5 surface mount buttons across the edge opposite the header. We are thinking it could be one of the first Pi Zero display boards, and also could be really useful in a variety of projects such as conference badges and similar.

We will be launching this product directly for sale on our website hopefully around the end of January, if you are interested.

Merry Christmas!

We just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for all your support in 2015. We have experienced some unfortunate delays on this project and it has been great to have such an enthusiastic group of backers behind us. We are glad to be coming to the end of this project and we are really looking forward to getting these shipped to you in the next couple of weeks and seeing what you create with our boards (as I am sure are you).

If you celebrate Christmas - have a great one. If you don't - have a great one anyway :-)

Here's to 2016!

Thanks and best wishes,
Aaron and the Pi Supply team
