Samples confirmed - full production starts tomorrow, shipping in around 2 to 3 weeks!
We are delighted to be able to tell you that we received the 20 sample boards on Friday. There were a few small issues with the samples that arrived, but none of these were related to the board electronics (specifically it was an incorrectly sized cardboard box and the wrong size mounting hardware - both easily rectified).
For anyone who was at Pi Wars in Cambridge (a robot wars style jam hosted by the Cambridge Raspberry Jam organisers) over the weekend, you may have seen us displaying the new board working perfectly on our shared stand with Screenly.
Here are a couple of pictures (sorry for the poor quality, they were taken on a phone!):
The LM75 temperature sensor is now properly connected to the I2C bus, the pogo pin we have selected is working great and the new real time clock (RTC) is working perfectly.
What this means is that we now have a finished design and we will be beginning full production tomorrow. All the parts for the 2k run are already in stock so the only things left to do are to manufacture the PCBs, assemble the components onto the board and then have them shipped over to us from China. We are now aiming to be shipping most of the units within the next 2 to 3 weeks - hopefully before Christmas in most cases and if not then it will be shortly afterwards.
There is still a small amount of software work to do to perfect the installation process however this will be done before shipping and we will continue to update the software into the future.
We can't wait to start shipping and see what you all create with PaPiRus!
Thanks for your patience, and keep your eye on the post box!
