Hi! We’re Damian, Jessica & Izzy, and we are launching Chicago’s very First Pierogi Wagon Food Truck!
We both grew up working in the food industry doing everything from bussing tables to serving in fine dining establishments to managing high volume concessions. Throughout those years, we developed a deep passion for food and a love for the service industry (We even met while working in the same restaurant).
Our independent spirit led us away to open our own business, a successful marketing company. But we’ve grown to miss the vigor of the bustling food industry and are ready to step back out of the office and onto the streets of Chicago to offer up steaming plates of delicious Pierogi.

Pierogi have always been close to our hearts. Damian grew up in Poland, where Pierogi were a dinner time staple and they were a Christmastime comfort food during Jessica’s childhood. Pierogi are also a much loved part of Chicago heritage and we’re excited to bring it to the streets!
For those who are unfamiliar, Pierogi are dumplings stuffed with any one of several fillings. They are usually boiled, then seared; tossed with bacon, onions and butter, and served with a side of sour cream for dipping.
We’re taking the traditional Pierogi and creating delicious artisan dips to make them even better. They’re great for a quick lunch, an easy to-go dinner, and the perfect late night bar food.

It is our plan to continue to evolve as the seasons change, offering new dips and, eventually, new and imaginative Pierogi flavors like bacon & egg, corned beef & kraut, and even chorizo!
We will also always offer seasonal salads, a soup de jour in the winter, and of course warm and cold drink options.
Let’s Talk Money
Where’s all this money going to go? Well, to convert a diesel step van (which we already have) into a food truck! And to pay the hefty new licensing fees to become a City of Chicago Food Truck. We’re building this baby ourselves with the most economical (but reliable) equipment available.
This includes purchasing pre-loved refrigeration and freezer units, a flat top grill, a stove for boiling our delicious Pierogi, a steam table, a stainless steel prep counter, a fire safety hood, a sink, electrical and water systems, and pots & pans and utensils.
If we raise more than the 15k, we will hire additional labor to help us get on the streets sooner. If we collect even more extra cash and reach our stretch goal of 25k, we will invest the money into opening a storefront (Just envision it: a PIEROGI BAR!).
There’s a lot to get done and every single backer moves us closer to our goal, so we really appreciate each and every pledge!
Just so you know, your credit card is only charged once our project is successful. So if we fail (which we won’t!) you don’t lose any money. Also, amazon and kickstarter fees add up to about $1500 of our collected funds and taxes will also take out another $2000 or so. We’d love to make a little extra to cover these costs.
We’ve done our research. We’ve been out on the streets and been spreading the news on Twitter and Yelp, asking for opinions. The response to the Pierogi Wagon has been overwhelmingly positive.

Risks and challenges
We are prepared to take on the challenges as they come. It's possible that our timeline may be slightly delayed if we run into obstacles with outfitting the truck or with the city permits. As setbacks arise, we will conquer them one by one.
Given that we receive enough funding, we will definitely successfully complete this project and the Pierogi Wagon will soon be roaming the streets of Chicago. That is a promise!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
