Welcome to the fundraising page for my new album!
Over the past year and a few friends of mine and I have been steadily ripping down and tearing apart my old family home, in order to create a new recording facility. Under the tutelage of our most excellent producer and sound engineer Adam Johnson, we have constructed a space that is now able to capture sound, and are working on doing just that now.
In approaching our third release, I decided early that I wanted to take a different approach to recording these songs. Our past two efforts have been a series of whirlwind recording sessions. Party dress was recorded in a mere weekend and mixed and mastered by the end of the following month. Long Days Above Ground was recorded similarly, with all the core tracking done within a week of studio time.
While I am still very proud of each of those albums, I regret that I have, as yet, been unable to truly investigate the process of recording, and really utilize the studio as an opportunity to showcase the songs in a different light. Now I can.
However, even without the expense of renting studio space, recording is still expensive. And even after the recording is done, there is still mixing, mastering, proofing, and pressing costs which all stand between us and the album’s completion. Please help me make this album for real!
We have many of the tracks started, and all of them have a clear direction, they simply require a little more lovin. For that lovin to happen I need some lovin from yall.
We’re gonna be giving away all kinds of cool stuff, but if you can give anything I send you a copy of a song called Mighty Mighty, which is an a cappella song that has proven very versatile in the studio. We have a couple of different versions of this song on file. The version that makes on the album is coming together, however this one we’re giving away was just too fun not to send out somehow (even though it really doesn’t fit the rest of the album).
Please check out the other backer packages as well. Every penny counts, but if you don’t have a penny the more people know about it, the more likely this will happen. So please spread the word.
Thanks everybody. As always, you rock.
PS we'd like to make another video too. Here's the first one:
