Hello! We are People Inside Electronics, a concert series that presents adventurous new electronic and electroacoustic music in Los Angeles. Earlier this year, we sent out a worldwide call for scores, looking for great music for strings and electronics. There's just something we love about that combination, plus it was a good excuse to work with one of our favorite LA ensembles, the Eclipse Quartet! (Last time they performed with us in October 2010, the Huffington Post called it "a tour de force performance worthy of recording.")
After carefully reviewing over sixty submissions, we're presenting a concert of the pieces we loved the most on September 17th at MiMoDa Studio, a new and very exciting venue for physical theater, music, dance, and experimental arts. We have three impressive works for string quartet and electronics lined up: Zeena Parkins' spellbinding Persuasion, Dan Visconti's dynamic, eclectic Love Bleeds Radiant, and Kotoka Suzuki's atmospheric Vestigia. The program is rounded out with Jason Heath's enchanting Rain Ceremony for viola and electronics, and Panayiotis Kokoras' mercurial Shatter Cone for violin and electronics. In the past we've received grants from Meet the Composer and the American Composers Forum, and this time around we're asking for your help!
Your money will help us cover the costs of putting on the concert, including use of the venue space for the show and rehearsals, equipment rental, and recording, as well as funding the performers. (You can even support the quartet directly with the "Sponsor a Musician" reward!) By the way, People Inside Electronics is a non-profit organization officially sponsored by Fractured Atlas, which means your donations are tax-deductible.
We think there's a lot of amazing new music being made in Los Angeles, and want to keep it vibrant by programming and promoting the artists we really believe in, who we think have something rare and vital to say. Help us support them by supporting us, so we can do more, bigger, better!
Thanks, and hope to see you at the concert!
