About this project
**JUST ANNOUNCED: NEW STRETCH GOAL - $12,500**
We've only got 1 more day to hit the stretch goal of $12,500, specifically targeted to increase our visual effects capabilities on the project. Our VFX artist, Michael Miller (the animator behind NBC's "Grimm"), wants to bring as much magic to the screen as possible. Hitting our stretch goal will enable him to really dial in that magic. This will increase the number of VFX shots that we can include in the video and add to the production quality. This is the final push.... your love and support is so deeply appreciated!
We’ve developed a story that iconically embodies the Phutureprimitive sound and narrative: the clash between technology and nature, and the role of art as a bridge between these forces. The story follows Rain Phutureprimitive as he navigates the beautiful and elemental landscape of an apocalyptic future, where nature has taken back control over the environment. The video will be shot almost entirely at the coast, taking advantage of some of the most breathtaking locations in the Northwest.
As he searches for beauty and sound, uncovering the secrets of the past, he'll be guided by a holographic dance spirit, played by Phutureprimitive dancer, Caeli La.
An incredible team of visual artists have come together to bring this vision to life. Multi-media production team Vinton Depiction, lighting designer Michael Bowles of MEBworks, and Michael Miller, the visual effects creator behind NBC’s “Grimm,” are on board to provide jaw-dropping vfx, lighting design and projection mapping.
Come on board and help bring Phutureprimitive's "Lucid Dream" to life! We need to raise 10,000 dollars to cover production, travel costs, equipment rental, and visual effects. No matter the amount, any donation will help. We've put together some awesome rewards, including exclusive releases, and one-of-a-kind art.
If you can donate, wonderful! And if not, please share the project and help spread the word! We need the support of the community at large to make this happen. Thank you so much for contributing!
The video will be produced by Vinton Depiction, a Northwest based production company that specializes in music video and narrative filmmaking.
Visual effects artist Michael Miller will breathe life into the more magical elements of the narrative. Michael is the lead compositor at Hive FX in Portland, and works on feature films and series like NBC's Grimm.
Spinning Spades is a fire dance collective, headed by Tyler Spades. Tyler has taught workshops and performed with fire around the world.
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge our project faces is the ability to pull off a multifaceted production scheme in a natural environment. Filming at the Oregon Coast means dealing with potential rain, high winds, and all around unpredictable conditions. We also plan to use projectors, lighting and various electronic equipment that require a power source. To overcome some of these issues, we've diversified our shooting schedule and picked one of the least rainy months for production. We plan to use multiple generators on site, ranging in size and portability. By heavily storyboarding our project, we are able to shoot as much as possible in a controlled setting. We will also have the flexibility on site to utilize the elements in whatever form they take.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
