Finally Shipping!

It’s been quiet around here and that has mainly to do with the fact that we have been busy fulfilling your rewards! Two weeks ago we started shipping the first 500 units and as we have been seeing during the past few days they have started to arrive. For now we have mostly been fulfilling American and Australian orders. That has to do mostly with logistical reasons as we have to bulk ship European and American orders. The next batch of 1,000 units will be finished by the end of next week and we’ll be able to fulfill the remaining rewards by the of the month. We know you are all very eager to get your hands on Phonejoy and we are all working hard that you all get your units as soon as possible.

For those who have already received their units we have noticed a few things:

  • Most of you really like the build quality and our apps! We are very glad that we could deliver on those! :)
  • The D-Pad is not the best it could be and we acknowledge that. We will still need to do some tweaking to get it to work better, however as this requires changes to our tooling we did not want to keep you guys waiting any further!
  • A few of you had posted troubles with inverted analogs and connectivity problems, you can find all those questions now answered in our updated FAQ.
  • Some of you appear to have a missing pouch, we believe our manufacturer has not packed those. Please email us at if you are missing a pouch.
  • There are already two awesome unboxing videos on YouTube by The Phawx! Make sure to check them out here and here.

It's been very quiet around our MFi version. We are still adjusting some of the designs to submit them for Apple approval. We know it's taking longer than you and especially ourselves would like to see it happen. We have therefore decided that we can ship you a current Phonejoy iCade/Android version and you can choose to exchange your unit for a MFi version later in order to soften the wait for you. Please email us at if you are interested in that. Our Phonejoy app already offers over 300 iCade games on iPhone and iPad that area airing to be played!

Airbrush & Kickstarter Special Edition Rewards

We are still working on the Airbrush and Kickstarter Special Edition rewards. Since it's taking us longer than expected to create these rewards we have decided to split orders where possible and deliver you a basic Phonejoy Controller in advance, which you can later exchange into an Airbrush edition when we have completed those.

Android App

Phonejoy App Available Now on Google Play
Phonejoy App Available Now on Google Play

In case you haven't noticed already, our Android app is already live on Google Play! Thus far it seems that most of you really like our Android app. Of course this is just a first build from us and in due course we will add new features such as sorting and improved caching. If you like our app please help us and review it!

Big Thank you

It's been a long ride for us. We have experienced our fair number of failures such as with our Bluetooth module manufacturer and getting the tooling of our EasySlider right. Many of which have led to great frustration and many restless nights among our team. Without you, our friends and family as well as our investors, we wouldn't have made it this far. So in the name of the Phonejoy team, I would like to thank all of you for your great ideas, financial and moral support, and most importantly your continued patience. Not many Kickstarter projects have had such a patient group of backers. Thank you!! :-)

Future plans

Phonejoy will be available to everyone else on Amazon, Newegg and of course next month. So if you have any friends or family who you think may like Phonejoy help them and us by referring Phonejoy to them! :)

Aside of that, our Website, Android and iOS app will continue to see improvements over the next few months. We will also continue to make an effort to share interesting content such as how-to videos, game reviews, and more. If you have suggestions for content you'd want to see most let us know at!

Good day. I still haven't received my white Phonejoy (with the case I purchased as an add-on). When will you start shipping those?

Luciano C, the tracking link was broken for me. I entered the number into the couriers website and it worked. Also if it's freshly generated it might not work yet. Usually 24 hour wait on them

    4. Luciano C on April 9, 2014

i got the email this morning but some how i cannot track it

    5. Harry Campbell on April 9, 2014

      Nevermind, got it this morning

Still haven't got my shipping email, what batch am I in? I am an early adopter I think

    7. PhoneJoy Solutions America, Inc. Creator on March 26, 2014

@Yakamoneye Yes, iCade works across all iOS versions.

@Thomas / An Tran / Francis We will strongly consider this suggestion! But no promises on this (yet). The change is not finalised yet, plus we discourage disassembly of Phonejoys. It's not very easy to repair or reassemble, so there's a high risk that swapping the D-Pad may result in breaking your Phonejoy. With that said if it's only the new D-Pad and membrane we are more than happy to offer this upgrade. Shipping should be very inexpensive.

@everyone else You should have received emails asking for address confirmation. Once that's all confirmed the next batch can go out on Friday/Monday.

If you do plan to redo the d-pad in next product batches, please do consider sending us backers the updated parts. I think that the parts (upper case part/ dpad silicon?) should be provided free, as for the shipping... I am willing to pay, but hopefully not 15$ again - perhaps a regular letter (not package) fee would be smaller? What do you think?

Is the iCade version also compatible with iOS7, or only with iOS6?

I quite like the idea An Tran had - to let us have the improved d-pads somehow.
I don't mind delays really, but you'd have thought the d-pad would have been one of the top things to be sorted out...

I'm amazed that people can get disappointed over delays from kickstarter. It's not like creating a product like this is easy.

Anyway guys, it's awesome that you are finally shipping, and that the reception for the product is good.

One question though, since you said you are still not happy with the d-pad, is it possible for us early backers to get a discount if we decide to buy a second phonejoy?

    12. Luciano C on March 24, 2014

so you already know which colour we want or you will send us an email asking us (maybe you did already ???) also you will need the shipping details or you have them already?

    13. FIVESEVEN on March 24, 2014

and how much is that shipping fee to Denver? where is it shipped from again?

    14. PhoneJoy Solutions America, Inc. Creator on March 24, 2014

@Terry & An Tran We will start producing the white and red units in late April. Again, this has mainly to do with the minimum order quantities of our suppliers and their production schedule for other products.

@Trevor & Kyle Thank you guys! Glad you like your Phonejoy!

@Lukas We are story that we have let you down. The last year has been very painful for us due to the delays we had been facing. There is no excuse for this and we wish there would be a way for us to make it up to you somehow. But frankly we are glad that thanks to the patience of our Kickstarter backers and investors our project didn't completely blow up like the iControlPad 2.

@Francis Frankly speaking, we are not happy with the way our D-Pad has turned out. We admit that. But we also admit that we couldn't have delayed everyone's Phonejoy for another two months, because we'd have to re-design the D-Pad. We have had made that experience last year when revising the EasySlider and buttons and that came to bite us back later. Honestly, it's really hard to get everything "right" on your first product. We are sure there will be other things that some of you may not like. We will take all that together and decide how we can make the next Phonejoy even better. Hope you understand.

As for shipping the next units, we are still on track for this week. Shipments should continue on Friday this week or Monday next week.

@FIVESEVEN We understand that your Phonejoy may not look like new anymore, which is why we will accept any conditions except if it's deliberately broken. You only have to pay for shipping to our Denver warehouse, everything else will be handled by us.

      @PhoneyJoy - any comments/answers/info?

    16. FIVESEVEN on March 20, 2014

to those who chose the MFi version and wants the current version for the time being, what are the terms and conditions for the exchange? do we have to pay extra (shipping etc)? the PhoneJoy would be pretty battered by the time of exchange. how would we know if it's acceptable for exchange for the MFi version later on?

    17. Kyle Hitchcock on March 20, 2014

I'm loving it so far! Even if the D-pad isn't where it needs to be, I was surprised at how solid the build quality is, for something small enough to fit in a pocket. Huge "wow" factor there. My old phone doesn't have a great handle on Android games, but within hours I'm getting a new Nexus 5. What I want to do is get this working on my PC, and figure out a way to use my phone to emulate the L3 and R3 buttons.

So they're sending them out even though they're still not happy with the design, and users are reporting dissatisfaction. Lovely.
I guess your estimates were a little off when you said "The remaining 2,500 units we will produce in our first batch will be assembled during February 20 to March 14" but you seem to be only about half way through that...
And shipping to the UK is going to be slow, too.

    19. Julius Besser on March 20, 2014

@Lukas Wait, you are disappointed that it is finally shipping, possibly as soon as next week? That sounds like a good thing to me...

    20. An Tran on March 20, 2014

Great update guys. Glad to see the project all finished. Just wondering though, is there an updated shipping estimate for the white and red Phonejoys, or are they still set for April?
Also, once you've improved the d-pad, would you consider selling the improved parts individually?

    21. Harry Campbell on March 20, 2014

Wasn't aware you were shipping to those countries first, I've been getting excited every time the post comes. So hopefully mine will be en route soon

    22. Lukas Gelman on March 20, 2014

This is just one more disappointing email in a long line of disappointing emails from Phonejoy. I don't think I will be supporting any other kickstarter programs due to Phonejoy.

    23. Trevor Gryffyn on March 20, 2014

Got mine the other day... love it! Works great! Thanks guys!

    24. terry on March 20, 2014

what about the Red coloured one

      when will they ship?
