We are PHOENX: we set out to create a truly sustainable carry-on for the modern conscious traveler, made from recycled and regenerated materials.
PHOENX began with the simple idea that the choices we make have a lasting effect on the world around us. Traveling is an essential part of the human experience. It’s also responsible for as much as eight per cent of global carbon emissions. By providing a product that is sustainably produced and highly functional, we hope to positively influence travelers to make more intentional choices in how they move from place to place.
The PHOENX carry-on suitcase is made from 95% recycled and regenerated materials. Our signature modular design allows each component to be sent in for replacement, enabling the PHOENX team to properly recycle each part. This benefits both the consumer and our planet by decreasing unnecessary waste and extending the lifespan of your luggage.
Our goal is to provide conscious travelers with a premium suitcase to help offset some of the negative impacts associated with travel. With this suitcase, we are giving value to materials that would otherwise be considered trash, waste or pollution.
Our company goal at PHOENX is to apply principles from regenerative design to an industry which needs to more closely consider its environmental impact. We aim to create a beautiful and functional suitcase by sourcing and repurposing underutilized materials.
We’ve teamed up with Oceanic Global to create a limited-edition carry-on to raise awareness around making smarter choices with our planet in mind. PHOENX plans to play an active role in helping to develop Oceanic’s Hubs initiative which organizes local communities dedicated to cleaning up our oceans.

Risks and challenges
Being the first to integrate recycled materials in the luggage industry meant our team needed to carry out a number of quality tests to ensure the high standards we intended to deliver. In the process, we collaborated with world-leading engineers and vetted all suppliers of our components to ensure they superseded industry standards.
One of the biggest challenges has been finding suppliers who share our brand mission and meet our ethical standards – which is not just environmental, but includes fair working hours and pay for all employees. In order to meet these expectations, we brought in outside consultants to help us establish a fair, equitable supply chain.
The PHOENX team has been working for over a year to plan and refine our processes and is ready to overcome any unexpected challenges. Our motto is to focus on the solution rather than the problem.
