Meatspace Universe Omnibus Collection
We are here to get Vol 2 of Meatspace completed as well as the prequel, GameSpace. This Omnibus collects all 12 issues of both series.
The future maybe as bad as you fear, but there are ways to thrive...if you are lucky or skilled enough and can play the Game.
GameSpace - Introduces you to the Game, Dungeon World. The most popular game to be found. Many people use it as a means to earn their living. Think YouTube stars, but then make them more famous than professional athletes, actors or singers. The game provides the entertainment, as long as everything works as it should.
GameSpace is a five issue series set before the events of Meatspace Volume One. Written by Meatspace creator Josh Gorfain, and Illustrated Yuki Saeki, the artist behind GOLGOTHA from Top Cow Publishing. The first issue is completed, and work is underway to have the rest done as quickly as we can. Which is why we have turned to Kickstarter to help fund the artwork faster.
Meet the players -
You will have to read the story to meet the rest of the characters of this story.
Meatspace Volume 1 - War is Hell and for Lance Brighton that was just the start of his troubles. After being injured so badly, the only way he could survive was to be placed into a cyborg body. Now, he must get used to this new existence and find some normal in his life. His escape like so many others is Dungeon World. At least there he can forget for a time, plus it doesn't hurt when your son is one of the top players in the world. Unless you just want some time to play together.
But, you can't stay in the game forever. Even when your body is mostly machine. Try though Lance might, the real world is always there, and now it is something he has to face. To find out just what he, his son, and the rest of the Dungeon World players are caught in.
Meatspace Volume 1 is a completed 3 issue self-contained story written by Josh Gorfain. Art provided by Andrew MacLean for issue 1 and Matthew Furber for Issues 2 and 3.
Meet the new players -
Meatspace Volume 2 - Life is starting to become more normal for Lance. He is even been asked to a High School Reunion. But there is a new expansion being released too. Has playing a game every felt more like a job?
What we are doing making floppies of all the issues as well as creating an ultimate Meatspace Omnibus.
Josh Gorfain - Josh Gorfain was born in the wilds of Connecticut and raised by wolves until he was seven and found by a secret government agency and raised to be their greatest operative. Enhanced by alien technology recovered at the Roswell crash landing, Josh is stronger and smarter and quicker than most Olympic athletes. After performing a decade of service for his shadowy masters, toppling regimes and eliminating bizarre threats to humanity including the squid people of Proxima IV, Josh broke free of his conditioning and escaped his captivity to the urban jungle of New York City where he tries to cling to his last shred of humanity by writing strange adventures about robots and elves and cybernetically enhanced chimpanzees.
There are only two things correct about this biography, but not the things you think
Yuki Saeki - is a traditionally-trained comic artist and illustrator born in Japan and raised in Taiwan. She has enjoyed working in a variety of web/mobile technology start-ups while consistently producing independent comics over the years. As a former internship member of the Periscope Studio, she was trained under a unique group of artists and writers based in Portland. She was also involved in costume design for the Hollywood adaptation of Dragonball: Evolution. She is currently located in Oregon with her husband Ken and two very spoiled cats.
Sean Von Gorman - is an NYC based Comics Illustrator and Writer. He is known for Co-Creating TOE TAG RIOT (Black Mask Studios), SECRET ADVENTURES OF HOUDINI (Alterna) and PAWN SHOP (Z2 Comics). He has also contributed Art for KISS (Dynamite), GWAR: Orgasmageddon (Dynamite), BITCH PLANET (Image) as well as the Eisner Nominated Love is Love Anthology (DC/IDW) Sean has also contributed Ary got Neil Gaiman's Neverwear and several features for Alternative Press Magazine. He is also a brilliant Guerrilla Marketer, who has been known to handcuff himself to things and escape straight jackets to promote his comics.
We have come to Kickstarter in order to secure the funding that can pay for printing of these books, but also to pay for these professional skills of our artist. Both Sean and Yuki are looking forward to getting these books out as fast as they can and more we can pay them their page rates the more they can focus on this project.
Meatspace the RPG - That is right, we are currently working on putting together the rules and setting for Meatspace the RPG. What makes this game unique is not just the cyberpunk setting, but also the DungeonWorld too. This is a game where you can play two different characters at the same time. Choose from your real life occupation/class and those of the Game. Out of game, you might be an inspector, but in the game, you play an assassin skilled in the use of blades and stealth.
Depending on what type of game you wish to play, each game can be tailored to match your parties desires. Play in DungeonWorld and enjoy your game of fantasy or take it out to the "real" world and enjoy the full gambit of cyberpunk.
If you enjoy playing tabletop RPGs this is a rare opportunity to have input into how it is developed, but also to be a part of the groups that are run by the creator of the world. Josh is going to run two groups through the alpha edition. Check the rewards on the side. There are also chances to get into the Beta testing when it happens.
Risks and challenges
We won't mince words on this. This is not the normal project PDP would run. Normally, we would come to Kickstarter to pre-sale our completed books. However, this case is special. The scripts are all written and the all the creator's involved are proven professionals who have completed multiple Kickstarters. As such we feel the actual risk is minimal with this project.
We are here though to help pay these professionals a wage that is worthy of the work they are doing. The first issue of GameSpace has been completed and work has begun on Issue 4 of Meatspace.
We will be sure to keep backers updated as progress is made on these works.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
