About this project
Two years ago, I moved to Korea to live and work. It's from this experience I composed a creative nonfiction piece titled "Museums," which takes a look at everything from Teddy Roosevelt to 만세 to Lotte World. A lot of the ideas for this essay came from visiting different museums in Korea.
I'd like to explore another facet of Museums, this time with the emphasis on Visitors, thus the title--"Visitors." This long-form essay will explore how visitors (you and me) can relate to the larger concerns of the past (history, art, culture, etc.). "Visitors" will be available both electronically and physically (pressed in late January).
Visiting these museums in Korea, I hope to get some new ideas and territory to explore as well as to fill in some gaps of memory since I left.
I need your help covering these expenses:
Roundtrip airfare: ~$2,000
Travel within Korea for two weeks: $400
Expenses (Food, Living Quarters, Museum Money, Etc.): $400
Pressing of Book: $400
With your help, I can complete a really fun and interesting essay, and in return, you can get some pretty awesome stuff! Every last bit helps, and it makes this project one to be shared and savored!
This small book will be pressed and mailed to you late January/early February. I'll collect addresses for postcards and books when the funding is received!
This project's end date is September 7rd--birthday of Buddy Holly! Let's make this happen!
