Howdy ho, gang!
OK, so this is where we are now:
The materials are in the printers' hands. We now have to select which pages we'll have in our "mini-proofs" to look at and approve before it goes to press.
Anyone who reads the comic regularly knows I am basically complete shit at proofreading myself (as the comic's letterer), so it has been a lengthy process of proofing and editing and making damn sure we are submitting the books without error, thanks to Sam & T's tireless efforts. Though no doubt, many of you will laugh at how long this printing process has taken in sharp contrast to how minimalist our books are, layout and content-wise.
"Just because it's minimalist doesn't mean it doesn't take the effort" is what I would say.
"I am a slow, perfectionist asshole" is what I should say.
In any case, this means that there is roughly 10 weeks until the books arrive on T's doorstep, and then we begin the packing and the signing and getting this shit out as soon as possible.
So expect the backer surveys about a month from now. One generally wants to wait as close as possible to when you start the fulfillment process so as to reduce the chance of those who are changing address and whatnot.
In about two weeks, we'll have the mini-proofs and if we like what we see, we'll approve the printing, and I'll be busting out the rest of the digital rewards and whatnots and fill your inboxes with goodies.
It has been a hard, lengthy process working on fulfillment on this Kickstarter at the same time as we have never actually fully recovered from changing our update schedule to 5/week. Scripting Guilded Age is a herculean task, mainly because T and I have been doing this for years but that just makes us fight even harder for what we think is right for the story.
I've got more excuses if you want them, but I suspect you just want your Goddamned books already, especially since we've officially passed by the one-year anniversary of you all graciously funding the project.
So the gears are turning! The process continues apace, as slow a pace as we've maintained so far. But all goods will be delivered, in time. Period.
T'il next time, Guildies.
