About this project
As you may have gathered from the dramatic video presentation above, Plague is a 2D side scrolling game that will be created for iPad and iPhone, and then ported to PC, Mac, Linux, Android and Xbox Live. It will be full of macabre humor, highly animated sprites, and beautiful, hand-painted graphics.
You try to spread the Plague to as many poor folks in a level as possible, by coughing on them or dying in a large, poisonous cloud; And those infected in turn become carriers, continuing the spread of the Plague. You will earn points to level up the stats of your diseased carrier -- things like Life Expectancy, Potency, and Cough Rate -- so the next time you play a level, you can do more damage. Levels will contain multiple paths, so there is also some strategy involved.
The levels start out simple to let you get the hang of things, and grow in size and population as the game goes on. Your goal is to start from the countryside, and make your way through the farms, into the city and eventually to the throne room of the castle, leaving a spreading wake of pestilence behind.
Plus, there is an element of randomness every time you send your infected fellow out, as you are not in direct control of him. You steer him by unlocking doors, moving obstacles, etc. The levels will be populated with medieval people, all going about their business. Will your carrier cough at just the right time to infect that innkeeper or cook?
Will that newly-infected cook spread the Plague to his server, and then on to their customers? Leveling up your carrier's stats will make you more potent and more successful.
There are also 'enemy' characters that will try to heal you, prematurely ending your epidemic. Can you start a chain reaction strong enough to reach the end of the level? The end of the game?
I'm asking for $20,000.00, which is enough to make a great game. But, should crazy things happen and I get more, I will be able to add more fun background animations and make the levels longer. Thanks for your interest, and hopefully soon I'll be creating the Plague for everyone to pick up and enjoy!
