Hello! I'm Peter Watson, writer of stuff and nonsense. I've teamed up with an All-Star team of talented Comic artists to bring you....
A few years ago, I wrote a poem. A classic tale of man's struggle against nature. They say most poetry is written from the Heart. This poem is written from the Bladder!
It chronicles the journey of an average Clydebank man who leaves the pub late one night after one too many and suddenly realises he's "dyin' fur a pish"!
It goes on to tell of the many fantasies and worst-case scenarios that play out in his head during his desperate journey. Is it based on real life? Let's just say it's based on a 'familiar' story!
The poem is written using Semi-Scots/Glaswegian language with a modern slant. You could say it's more like Burnistoun than Burns.
The vibrant imagery of the poem really stands out and as a lifelong comic book fan I knew it would make a really fun issue. I approached my talented friend Gordon Johnston to draw it. Gordon loved the script and he really wanted to convey the real world journey of the character and suggested we could recruit other artists to illustrate the fantasy scenes!
So, in a 'Magnificent Seven' style montage we recruited an elite crack squad of artistic talent including Neil "Dungeon Fun" Slorance, Allan "Grave Wax" MacRitchie, Alan "The Penned Guins" Henderson and many more.
The Lang Walk Hame will be a 24 page magazine sized comic.
As well as the main story, it will also include the original poem so you can entertain people with it on Burns Night or St Andrew's Night.... actually any night would do.
We're looking to reach £600 to fund a high quality print run of the comic. If we exceed that goal then we have several bonus things lined up for stretch goals.
When the Kickstarter campaign ends, we'll still need a bit of time so the Pub cameos can be added before we send it off to the printers. All backers should receive their copy in June.
We used my home town of Clydebank as the setting for our tale. I've lived here all my life and I'm proud to be a 'Bankie'. Gordon is from Paisley but don't hold that against him. Early on in the project I took him on a tour of the town so he could get a good feel for the place. He really captures the atmosphere of the town at night.
SPECIAL STRETCH GOAL ANNOUNCEMENT!
If we reach a target of £1000 funding then all backers at the "Comic and Mair Stuff" level and higher will also receive two Lang Walk Hame Beer Mats!!
Right, enough of my rambling, let's look as some artwork!

Risks and challenges
The artwork for the comic is nearly complete with just a few bits and pieces to finish off e.g. the Bar scene cameos. The colouring stage has already begun with just the lettering to do before it's sent off to the printers. The Lang Walk Hame will soon be over!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
