THE CHAIR a dark horror film on death row with a GREAT cast
A psychological horror film that will have you on the edge of your seat. Starring Eric Roberts, Brian Thompson, Bill Oberst Jr., & more
Hello! My name is Peter Simeti and I'm the creator of The CHAIR graphic novel. In 2006-2007, I wrote, inked and lettered the book along with Kevin Christensen who was the penciler on it. Erin Kohut (screenwriter and editor of the graphic novel) did a great job adapting the comic for film. The CHAIR was one of the founding titles at Alterna Comics.
THE CHAIR follows the story of Richard Sullivan (to be played by Brian Thompson), an innocent man struggling to escape execution on death row. Witnessing the torture and murder of his fellow inmates at the hands of the prison's sadistic and psychotic Warden (to be played by Bill Oberst Jr.), Sullivan decides that the only way to survive is to fight back. But as he matches the savagery and brutality occurring in the prison, Sullivan is forced to come face to face with his own sanity.
Many themes are explored upon in the film, including troubled familial relationships, child abuse, mental health care, the ethics of torture, and capital punishment. A battle of nature vs. nurture, THE CHAIR is a gruesome psychological horror film without monsters, zombies, or vampires - a film that shows the capacity for good and evil that exists within all of us.

This is where you guys come in!
Kickstarter backers have done some amazing things before and are some of the most supportive bunch around. Your pledges are really appreciated but even if you can't pledge, please share our campaign on facebook and twitter!
We really believe that you'll love this film and when we reach our goal, we've planned stretch goals so we can deliver an even better product, get better locations, tour film festivals, and bring you higher quality rewards that will be exclusive to this Kickstarter! Which brings us to...
Risks and challenges
Of course there are a great deal of risks and challenges that come with making a film. For us, at this point it's all or nothing. If we don't raise what's needed, then no film will get made.
But that's why we've brought together such a quality cast and crew with more members joining every day - so we can create a fantastic film that you'll enjoy again and again.
Our plans are to film in Los Angeles, CA in October 2014. So this film will be made THIS year if funding is successful! We've already scouted locations and have a lot of the behind the scenes stuff put together. Once filming is finished a few weeks after, that's when post-production work kicks in to make the best looking and best sounding movie possible.
When everything's all set to go, we plan on reaching out to distributors, touring film festivals, and all of that good stuff that comes with getting a finished film out there. We have some connections set up right now, but they need to see a finished product (and who could blame them?)
So let's make this film together! Get some great rewards when you back this project, spread the word to friends and family - heck, scream it out your window even - sharing is caring!
We're making this film FOR you guys, you're our audience after all!
You guys are the reason this film will get made and we look forward to making you proud :)
